height, weight and 40 times provided by NFLDraftCountdown
1st round Pitt CB Darrelle Revis~6'0" 200 4.45 40
One of the best true, cover corners in this draft, big, physical and can run, not afraid to mix it up in run support, returned a punt 79 yards for a TD as a junior, averaged 11 yards per, will take over for Anthony Henry in the future, as a rookie, will be a better alternative for the outside CB spot vacated when Newman goes into the slot, as he will be able to match up with taller receivers better than Aaron Glenn, as well as serve as the starting PR
2nd round Fresno State WR Paul Williams~6'2" 210 4.35 40
Large WR with exceptional speed, long arms and tremendous leaping ability, very good YAC threat, potential future #1 WR who will have the benefit of biding his time a couple of years behind TO and Terry Glenn, to work on his route running and the finer points of starting at WR in the NFL, while still adding a big, vertical threat to the passing game as a rook
3rd round Fresno State C Kyle Young~6'5" 330 5.4 40
Strong, physical mauler with 4 years starting experience, versatile, could project to either OG or OT as well as C, his natural position, could be attractive RG option if we don't bring in Eric Steinback/Kris Dielman in as FA, or get outbid for either, which is pretty likely

lol nice two fresno staters. young would fit great at LG for dallas. he's a mauler and has the footwork to pull.

Covers my perceived three most critical areas of need and I've heard goo things about all of them, even if I've never seen any but Paul(in highlights only) play.

I love this draft but I do not think that Reives get past the giants who pick before us. They are desperate need of a CB and Reives is probably one of the best if not the best corner in the draft.

let's just make a full mock with fresno state @ least the first 5 rounds...
1. Marcus McCauley CB
2. Paul Williams WR
3. Kyle Young OG/C
4. Dwayne Wright RB
I am a huge Fresno State homer (see link below), It's probably cuz I live in Fresno though...

I haven't seen Paul Williams play. I would like to see the Cowboys draft Baraka Atkins from the Univ. of Miami.

I wouldn't like taking a RB so high, but wouldn't mind at all taking those 3 Fresno St. players w/ each of our picks in the 1st day, Marcus or Darrelle would do it for me in the 1st

Not a bad draft SIF. The only thing I could disagree with would be a center in round 3... If Gurode comes back this spot could go in one of several areas depending on what happens with FA.

If Fresno is so great and has so many great NFL prospects, why aren't they ranked very high pretty much every year?

but the beauty of Young is that he's versatile, and some even think he could play OT in the NFL, he could move to RG for us, idk, just an idea

I dont like your mock.......no offense. but it seems you have a nice following from the FSU homers.
Revis is intriguing, but I do not see him falling to 22. If he did, I wouldnt be mad if we drafted him.
I dont want Paul Williams at all. I am not sold on the guy. I would rather have Anthony Gonzalez. However, I don't really want to draft a WR till the second day of the draft.
I was assuming we were going to stay in the 34 defense....but if we are going back to the 43, that changes my mindset a bit. I will have to see how the coaching staff plays out in the next few weeks before I can alter my mock....

He's got the size to play guard.

Young looks good in the third, but I think he will be gone early in rd 2.
If we think we are ready for a SB run: FS, NT, Wr/Returns - T.O. stays
I don't think we are ready... so I hope we take the best Defender at any position in the 1st... unless a franchise LT or RB drops within reach. After that, we should go BPA at WR/OL/DB. - & T.O. is o-u-t

I currently rate Young the highest center, even though most go for Kalil. Young is a big nasty mauler at center, pancaking DLinemen in 1 on 1 drills, which is pretty much unheard of. He's not athletic so may have problems in space, but once he gets his hands on the lineman, they're taken out. It's like moving Larry Allen to center.

To expand upon my thinking, Kyle Young has also had extensive practice at RG, where many say he may be a better prospect. Add to it his nasty demeanor which we have missed in quite some time. To me, he is a prime candidate to play center or move to the hole at RG, which is why he is so high by my rankings.

One of the big complaints about drafting a FS in the 1st round this year is that we already have too much money and high draft picks invested in our secondary.
If we are going to go ahead and put another first rounder back there, I would much rather grab a top flight FS which will greatly improve that position immediately, as well as make Roy even better. I can't imagine drafting depth at CB in the first round with the monumental hole at FS.

Are there any spectacular nose guards or Def Tackles coming out this year?

His thinking is that Henry will move to FS. This way we would have a starting corner and hopefully in a year or two Watkins shows his skills more consistently at the FS slot.

actually I have in mind that Dallas should sign Deon Grant to start at FS, or at least give Watkins competition, I want Revis because he's a good punt returner, and would be a better cornerback than Aaron Glenn outside when Newman moves into the slot, as he's taller and physical, so he could handle opposing teams moving their big WR there, instead of them taking advantage of Glenn's height, or lack thereof, plus both Henry and Glenn are getting up there in age, so we're going to need at least a quality #3 in the near future

THere's a lot of good stuff being said a/b FS in this discussion. The fact that this position IS a blaring need for Dallas AND that the draft is wraught with great talent at Safety (covers Safeties too), means this ought to be addressed come April.
