I dont see why people are saying the pass rush was so bad, I thought it was pretty good. I guess you guys forget who the QB was and that would be Daunte Culpepper who scrambled and rolled out quite a bit. I think if we played a pocket passer without the speed of Culpepper then the pass rush wouldnt be a complaint on this board right now.

(1) They did not make any plays
(2) They missed tackles
(3) They gave Culpepper way to much time to throw
(4) It was embarrassing
(5) They get an F

Not to mention they have one of the better O lines in the League.

I agree...we put lots of pressure on, more than I've seen in years...but we couldn't sack him and he played like an All Pro....he whipped us soundly...Did he make any decision that wasn't golden?

It's obvious Minny has one of the best O-lines in the NFL this year...maybe the best, however Daunte had 5-8 seconds to throw the ball almost every play he threw...seriously. Even with a great o-line at some point we must figure out how to get pressure. I honestly think our front four are solid players, and can get the job done. Yesterday they got worked...end of story. We have to fix that with the players we have.
The simple facts that our blitz's blew up in our faces allowed their O-line to only have to focus on their own man. Zimm needs to figure this out ASAP. We have the players to be better then what I saw. But hey that's JMHO.

IMO you can't say, that we have a solid front 4 and then say, we have to figure a way to get pressure on the QB.
Simple fact is, we don't have a solid front 4....at least compared to minny's o-line we don't. Sure if we win the next 15 great, but we still don't have a solid front 4 vs, minny's o-line. I really don't think that we'll go 15-0 either, so it's safe to assume that we simply don't have a solid front 4.
Coaching helps poor players, but drafting better players puts results on the field.
Until the Cowboys assemble a REAL drafting Dept. I just see everything else we do as a bandaid.

Anyone that thinks our DL got good pressure on Culpepper either has to raise their standards about 5 million nothes, or they need to get their head examined. Our DL play was horrible vs the run and pass.

I didn't say great...I said I think they are solid. Personally I think there's enough talent there to play much better then they did...I think they are far more capable of putting on pressure then they did. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think we will see improvements in them very soon. They had a serious wake up call.

When was the last time we spent one of our first rounders on a DL? I think it goes all the way back to 1999 with Ekuban who is no longer with the team. If you extend to include fourth rounders, then in the last 6 drafts we have drafted two DL (Ekuban, Blade).
I'm afraid this is partly a result of a failure to prioritize in the draft. You get your OL with lower draft picks (except LTs) unless they are exceptional players because if they are large, intelligent and diligent they can be coached up. Instead, we have spent numerous picks here and just ended up with a bunch of injured bodies.
BP, JJ and Lacewell need to have their heads examined for their drafting strategies. What we saw yesterday was a direct result of negligence on the DL. If we were willing to trade up instead of down, maybe we could have got one of the two DL who I had highly ranked who almost fell into our laps (Udeze, Wilfork).
Some folks never learn.
Maybe we'll luck out next year and get either Ellis or Abraham (a bit of a risk with his injury history and drinking issues) as it looks like the Jets can't afford to keep them both.

Dante didn't bust a sweat. He had no fear. Was not hurried, was not thrown down, was not waved at, nothing.

Yes ma'am.
And Glover agrees with us. Because the 5 points I quoted were direct quotes from him in his interview listed in the paper today. :)

If I had to pick a group:
Newman, Hunter, Reeves, Thorton & Jones OR
Ellis, Glover, Carson, Wiley, Eaton, Coleman & Stewart.
It would be no contest, we will look back and see the O line we faced this week is the best in the league.

I agree on the Defensive linemen 100%. It's the scheme, not the personnel
