This guy has been a real disappointment this year.

What the heck is going on. He has become a target instead of a shutdown guy.

Man......

The guy cannot make 1 play! Reeves has even outplayed him! Unbelievable.

I agree. They go rightd at him and he does nothing about it.

Tonight we've seen Newman get beat on simple double moves that aren't even really that, they are merely small stop and goes. Although last week he got tricked badly and if Jeff Garica wasn't the crappy QB that he is the game might've had a different out come.

I'm afraid Newman isn't quite the Shutdown Corner most of us have him picked out to be. He does tackle real well and does recover well, but he just doesn't stick with the WR and gets tricked out easily.

As i'm typeing this they showed a replay where he just plain gave up on the play. Thats not execpetable on a Parcells team.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad to have Newman on our team and he can turn into a shutdown corner, but it's plain silly to call him on at this point of his career.

Newman is starting to see that his athleticism is not going to be able to overcome poor technique. He is in the middle of a horrible sophmore slump. Zimmer has his hands full not that Hunter looks like he blew out his knee. The pups at cornerback are going to start seeing some real playing time. I noticed that since the speed of the game is what it should be, I don't see number 53 getting as much pressure as the preseason. Coaching is all that is keeping us from being 0-3.

I have been saying the same thing for last 3 weeks. Newman is good but not a shutdown corner. He was smoked in playoff game and then his woes continue this season. He gives up on a play for an easy TD !!!! Bill better straighten him out or its gonna be long year

He's not a shutdown corner yet but he's far from sucking. The bottom line is, you put a guy in single coverage all the time and he's going to get beat, plain as that. Bailey got beat some last year and ignorant Skins fans wanted to get him out of town too. If the Boys were playing with more backer and safety help and zones, he might get to play the ball more, but we'd give up short passes all day over the middle and in the seams.
