Quincy Carter drawing interest? Quincy Carter (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5500) hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2004, but at least one team in the league is considering bringing in the former Dallas starter for a workout. Carter is 29 now, was released by the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL last summer and currently plays for the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings of the af2 league, essentially the minor league of Arena Football. In seven games this season, the onetime second-rounder has completed 134 of 215 passes for 1,893 yards, with 42 touchdown passes and five interceptions. Cut by the Cowboys after he allegedly tested positive for marijuana in 2004, Carter isn't going to get many more chances, and he'd be wise to prepare hard for any audition he receives.

I heard he was in a bad shape just as recent as a year ago; I hope he got his S together.

I thought Crankcase bailed on the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings? Didn't he walk away from them when he got suspended for a game to two for missing some team meetings?

I don't want him to play for us, but I wish him luck. I was never a "Quincy hater," but I was never on his bandwagon either.
only 5 INTs in the arena game is pretty good actually. That game takes a quick release and threading the ball into tight spaces, things he couldn't do as a Cowboy.

I can't believe a NFL team is actually going to give a workout to that piece of trash. I hope he fails and finally learns that the problem all along was him, not everyone else. I can't stand people giving this unrepentant denier of personal accountability second chances. He doesn't deserve them anymore.

Honestly people, Carter's career may have a lot left in the tank. Nobody really knows what the right coach could do with him. Here, he was fragile as it was, and Parcells certainly didn't help that problem, but he was still defying odds. Someone said KC, and yea I could honestly see a guy like Herm being someone who could get under his skin in the right way. Or maybe even Norv in SD. All we heard about when he was here was what a hard worker he was and the hours he'd put in. Something that just tickled many of us pink after the debacle of qbs we had gone through since Aikman. So it's not like he's not doing the work required by a qb, he just basically cracked under Parcell's hard nose tactics. Which come one people, Simms, Bledsoe and a handful of other qbs in this league of past and present can attest to that. Parcells is not an easy guy to work for. In fact, I'd wager 90%+ of the people here would also eventually crack if Bill was your Boss and constantly breathing down your neck 24/7. And everything that's happen since then is because nobody gave him that much needed supporting cast. Just imagine how messed up half this league's players would be without that helping hand to hold along the way during rough times. Quincy was virtually just dropped on his face. But of course, the world's cherry, and only 1 out of a zillion have difficulties ever (Vick, Pac-Man, Quincy, Ricky Williams, the end)- the rest of the world is perfect. Isn't that right zone? You guys are perfect. So perfect, you're dogs and you smell your number 2's right after. Nose buried. Lol.

The sad part about it was he could never even throw a football, a required skill for a quarterback. He wasn't particularly elusive as a running QB and he had problems with his reads and managing the game.
Parcells and a good defense took him to the playoffs and according to you BP cracked him. Parcells led him to the pinnacle of his career and he couldn't handle it at the top. Parcells made tuna salad out of ****. Quincy got his shot even though he never deserved it. His 15 minutes is up unless you want to buy the book " The Rise and Fall of a Moron".

I don't know why I'm responding to this other than to dare you to actually debate me.
Honestly people, Carter's career may have a lot left in the tank. Nobody really knows what the right coach could do with him.Define what the "right coach is. By my count the man has had at least 5 Head Coaches. Campo and Parcells here, Herman Edwards with the Jets, the Coach with Montreal in the CFL, and his coach with the AFL2 team.
This is just a foolish attempt to slam Parcells as having ruined Q. Nonsense, but let's play to this.
3 of those 5 coaches have waived him and one suspended him for missing practices. Is the "right coach" someone who will genuflect to him? He'll never have a "right coach" then. If he couldn't get along with and perform for Herman Edwards then what will it take because that guy and Dick Vermeil are probably the ultimate player coaches.
Here, he was fragile as it was, and Parcells certainly didn't help that problem, but he was still defying odds. Someone said KC, and yea I could honestly see a guy like Herm being someone who could get under his skin in the right way. Or maybe even Norv in SD.Yet Herm had a shot with him already. Hole shot in your argument right there.
All we heard about when he was here was what a hard worker he was and the hours he'd put in.No, that isn't all we heard. That's all you heard because that's what you wanted to hear. I loved his work ethic. Said so many times, but I didn't appreciate him stabbing teammates in the back, going over his coach's head and apparently doing drugs by his own admission.
Something that just tickled many of us pink after the debacle of qbs we had gone through since Aikman. What in the blue hell are you talking about? He was the FIRST QB after Aikman. Not a breath of fresh air in the middle of the 9 since Aikman. He was the beginning of the cavalcade of also rans.
So it's not like he's not doing the work required by a qb, he just basically cracked under Parcell's hard nose tactics. Which come one people, Simms, Bledsoe and a handful of other qbs in this league of past and present can attest to that. Parcells is not an easy guy to work for.I'm one of Parcells' biggest critics on this forum, but this is crap. Bill Parcells gave him a clean slate in 2003 after he sabotaged his career in 2002. Parcells saved him from himself. Gave him a chance that no one else likely would have. How did he repay that? Drugs and paranoia when other QBs were brought in.
In fact, I'd wager 90%+ of the people here would also eventually crack if Bill was your Boss and constantly breathing down your neck 24/7. And everything that's happen since then is because nobody gave him that much needed supporting cast. That may be the saddest thing I've ever read. Complete and utter nonsense, but sad nonetheless. I mean of course that anyone could believe that crappola.
Just imagine how messed up half this league's players would be without that helping hand to hold along the way during rough times. Quincy was virtually just dropped on his face.Bull. He was literally pulled off the 2002 scrap heap and given 16 games to prove his worth.
But of course, the world's cherry, and only 1 out of a zillion have difficulties ever (Vick, Pac-Man, Quincy, Ricky Williams, the end)- the rest of the world is perfect.I love hyperbole. Totally ridiculous.
Isn't that right zone? You guys are perfect. So perfect, you're dogs and you smell your number 2's right after. Nose buried. Lol.Any time you want to produce evidence of any poster on this forum saying that they are perfect I will apologize until then the only number 2 around here is this crap you wrote.

He self destructed which is what most people do who destruct. Although there is no good reason for people to hate him, it's just human nature to kick people; and kick them more when they are down. I mean when you see someone getting kicked you know they aren't kicking you; at least for the moment.
If he can play somewhere fine. If he can't then fine with me, too. Hopefully he'll get a chance and do well. Or not get a chance and do well.
If he comes back it won't be here so why get upset. Thank him and all those before him for coming and going so that the present QB is here; who appears to be the real deal....at least after ten or so games.
I wish the best of luck to Carter....hopefully he gets his life in order....and if getting back in the NFL and having success at that is part of it.....even better.
I always enjoyed watching Carter play for the Boys.....I thought he had talent to play in the league....adjusting your mechanics is a common thing with young Qb's starting in the league.....and Parcells dumbied the playbook for other QB's who played here also....
hopefully Carter has learned and has somewhat overcome some of his demons...
we all have them....some just bigger than others.....

I managed to make it through that mess.
It's like I said - I continue to be amazed at the things Bill Parcells is capable of. He is so GD mighty that he's capable of holding half our defense and Julius Jones back, he ruined Drew Henson's career, and NOW I find out he's responsible for Quincy Carter's drug addiction?
Will wonders never cease?
All that power and he couldn't even manage a single playoff win. But, I'm sure he takes delight in driving Quincy to drugs (retrospectively, of course - considering Quincy had a cocaine problem before he ever met Bill) and squashing Rob Pettiti's potential. He must have been turned to the dark side.

Rob Pettiti had potential? I thought he was just a fat slug that should have never been drafted.
Despite the groupthink around here that Carter was the worst QB ever to touch a football (which he couldn't even throw! Hurr hurr!), Carter...if he had a decent head on his shoulders, had the talent to be one of the top 15 (closer to the 15 than the 1, of course) or so QBs in the NFL. Unfortunately, he did not have a decent head on his shoulders and was good 10% of the time, mediocre 50% of the time, and downright terrible 40% of the time. He actually looked pretty good backing up with the NYJ, if I remember correctly he engineered a comeback win or two for them. He could definitely outplay a few teams' current starters and a lot of #2 qbs, but again all the other stuff you could get along with him makes it not worth it. I'm sure he'll get another chance, possibly this year, and wouldn't be shocked if he made someone's roster.

Hey everyone, do you remember the wins engineered by Kevin Sweeney, Clint Longley, Jason Garrett, and Clint Stoerner? Don't give in to the "groupthink" that those wins were flukes or great performances from career backups. All those guys needed was a real chance and they would have been stars. Those performances prove it.

Real nice post there. I'm sure that will win you a lot of slaps on the backs, but Can you direct me to anywhere where I said that QC didn't get a real chance and he would have been a star? Oh, that's right, I DIDNT SAY THAT. Good try, though. I just said he had a lot of talent (which he did) but was done in by his lack of having a brain. Which would be his OWN damn fault. I swear, did you even read my post?

Yes, I read the post and got a chuckle out of the "groupthink" line. I thought your post was humorous, not silly and I joked about it.

Lets see, troll post, then say "aw toughen up buttercup". I dare say if I did that to you, a ban would be forthcoming. How about trying to discuss football like an adult? If I wanted boorish sophomoric behavior, I'd go read a video game forum. Or extremeskins.

The only thing sophomoric is what your username stands for.
I don't ban people for disliking me, so tell your story to someone who believes lies.

No one called me a troll. "Troll post", i was referring to your gem of a post. Yeah, ok, i'm a liar. Got any other names you want to throw out there? Or perhaps you'd like to troll me some more. Whatever, who cares! I'm a QC apologist or something! LOL!

Boy, my handle REALLY gets under your skin, doesnt it? This is like the third time you've harped on me about it.

You mean a coach that has already been left without a backup in the playoffs like he was with the Jets when Quincy bolted for "personal reasons"...I don't think so.
And Norv...He wouldn't last a minute trying to make every throw perfectly timed with the routes...Not a chance.

"toughen up, buttercup"You have got to be talking about something in the past, because none of this is in this thread. I have no memory of this, but apparently you do. I didn't call you a liar either buttercup. I never said you were a QC apologist either. Are you always this neurotic?
I liked the "groupthink" comment and was laughing about it. I wasn't making fun of you or anything you said. I didn't post a rolling eyes smiley or anything at all that should make you think I was slamming you. You have your undies in a twist over something that I don't even recall.
As to your username, yes I find it offensive and wish I had never changed it to that. Had I known what it meant I wouldn't have allowed it when I offered to change it from the pro Drew Henson one it was before. As I told you, I was a fireman for 7 years and found 2 people dead in fires, one a friend. I also have a cousin whose husband and 2 month old baby died in a fire. I find your username to be completely without taste or class.
Go ahead and be offended by that I suppose. Frankly I could give a damn if you are.

Dallas cut him because Parcells wanted Vinny to win a SB. When that didn't pan out he retained the services of Bledsoe with a quicker release. Quincy was not cut due to drug use which has never been proven wether he did indeed do drugs. Quincy was not cut because he lacked talent. Quincy was cut because of his affirmation in christianity.

I think Quincy admitted that he did do drugs but "it was only pot." Infact that's what his grievence was against the Cowboys after he got cut was that he said they cut him because he failed a drug test (which they can't do since he was in the substance abuse program.)

First you thought I was mocking you and I wasn't. I've now said 3 times that I thought it was funny.
Then you thought I was calling you a troll, and I wasn't. In fact it never even enterred my mind.
Then you thought I was calling you a liar, and I wasn't. About what I have no earthly idea.
Then you thought I was calling you a Q apologist, and what do you know? I wasn't.
Now you seem to think I am saying that your username doesn't bother me. I never said that. In fact I said it twice.
I am going to bold the parts for emphasis.
As to your username, yes I find it offensive and wish I had never changed it to that. I then tell you to go ahead and be offended by this opinion of mine (that I do dislike it) if you wish, that I don't care if you are (offended that I dislike it). I'll stand by what is right.

This thread is disappointingly too short.
Quincy was the best. He carried the 2003 team.
Quincy>>>>Hutch
Henson>>>>>Romo
The 4-3 is better than the 3-4.
Parcells ruined Juilus Jones.
MBIII >>>>>>JJ
Merriman>>>>>Ware
Roy Williams is the best coverage safety in the NFL.
Roy Williams is the worst coverage safety in the NFL.
Pacman should be banned.
Pacman should not be punished at all.
Vinny>Bledsoe and both suck.
Bledsoe>Vinny and both suck.

Wow. I love it when people create a convoluted rationale for something (like Quincy's departure with the Cowboys) and then state it as if it were fact. I guess it's true that if you tell yourself a lie long enough you start to believe it.

I just saw Quincy Carter at a Hotel in Amarillo, TX this past Thursday night. Didn't have a camera with me so I couldn't take a picture. But he was chillen with 2 other guys and they were getting in the pool at the hotel. He was acting like a real jerk. Some people were trying to say hi to him and he started saying he was someone else and using a different name. He can't trick me, I know my football players, and I especially recognize his lisp, hahaha.

The acronym is just a joke, or meme, or whatever. To me, it's not a big deal, and I'm always of the opinion that people should just get over it and ignore things that offend them - but I can see how it might upset people.
In any case, it's an odd choice for a username.

I saw it initially, and I understand how your experiences change how you view things. Like I said, it's always my opinion that people should just let things slide. For example - even though I have a retarded cousin, it annoys me when other people get a bee in their butt if you use the term "retarded" as a derogatory term. I had a guy I worked with a few years ago act like that, and it annoyed me to no end - as though I was insulting his sister if I let "Gosh, that's retarded" slip out.
There's just alot more important to me than getting offended at every little thing. We've all got different life experiences that shape us. I understand how things can offend and upset certain people - I just think in most cases, it's completely unnecessary to allow yourself to be affected by something that's not quite PC. jmo.
