Hillary was my highest match with 68%. Edwards and Obama were both top 5 as well.

The highest non-Dem was Ron Paul which again is no shock. He was at 40% though.

Huckabee and Tancredo scored the absolute worst for me with only 10%

--------------------------

I'll be voting Hillary and would do so even if she scored below the top score for me. I trust her experience and political savvy more than other Dems. I can't think of the last election she lost.

Hunter, Tancredo, and someone else were my bottom three.

Highest republican candidate match was Ron Paul!

I want someone who will be tough on Terrorism, immigration and border security, law and order, and not willing to put his tail between his legs and run out of Iraq. Also who is not willing to expand the federal government beyond its already galaxy size. Who will appoint judges that INTERPRET the law and not make it. That usually means he does not have a hope in **** of being elected.

Duncan Hunter was at the top for me and Billary Clinton at the bottom. No surprises, really, but I don't think Hunter can win. I would have liked to see Fred Thompson in the mix there. BTW, he'd better announce pretty soon.

There were only three who scored as high as 50 per cent with me:

Barack Obama 53%
John Edwards 50%
Tommy Thompson 50%

I'm surprised to see Thompson on that list, may have to look closer at him (especially if Hillary does prove to be the Democratic frontrunner)...

My bottom three were:

Duncan Hunter 18%
Tom Tancredo 18%
Ron Paul 30%

I find it a little discouraging that my closest match is only 53 per cent... maybe that's why at this point, I don't even know who I'd like to win the nomination for each party, let alone who I might utimately vote for...

I do know this is the second poll that has told me Barack Obama is my guy this time around, but I have the hunch that's mostly because he's been anti-Iraq all along...

Tommy Thompson, eh?? Interesting... that must mean he's one Republican who can never hope to have the support of the far right of the GOP...

I find it a little discouraging to know that my closest match has absolutely no shot at winning.

On the other hand, I'm at over 50% for 6 of the Democrats, including the most likely nominee (Clinton at 53%).

Bill Richardson (48%) and Rudy Giuliani (40%) were the only two 40% or above.

Kucinich and Biden were at the bottom with 15%.

Giuliani was the only major candidate who fared well. Clinton and Romney both finished at 30% and Obama finished at 28%. I seem to be out of touch with all of the major politicians. :lmao2:

You've got me beat. My closest match is 48% (Richardson), and he has no chance. The next closest is Giuliani at 40%.

Giulani would be the guy I vote for if it came down to it. He was pretty tough on crime in NY, cleaned it up pretty good. Then he showed REAL leadership when it really counted after 9/11. He is too socially liberal for my taste- but I could live with it.

Funny how these turned out for me because none of them reached 70% on the high end and 28% was on the low end.

Basically the guy that best matched me was not even getting a passing grade.

However the questions were worded oddly. Like the church and welfare situation. I would like to see charities raise everywhere but I would hate the idea of a "church or churches" being in charge of welfare as I don't trust them.

Anyways here is the list...

Bill Richardson 68%

Why would you have a problem with "If you accept that is Our Lord and Savior, I'll buy your starving child a meal and some clean clothes." Seems like a fair quid pro quo to me. ;)

Not all do that, actually a good deal of inner city shelters ran by churches do not require people to be that way.

I just think churches have enough power as it is and eventually it could lead to what you are talking about...or someone accidentally losing or missing paperwork for anyone that would criticize the church or do something they did not approve of.

I honestly have no idea about Richardson. Just don't know anything about him. He's views are fairly conservative for a Democratic presidential candidate. He isn't Liebermann conservative, but he is conservative. Our two top candidates are probably closer to the center than any of the others. I'd be interested to see how close I was to Thompson. He will probably be advised to present himself as very conservative (which he has the reputation of being), but his voting record shows that he is a moderate.

I was only kiddin'. Those were the good old days. Now it's a more subtle, soft sell. You know, "Here's some soup, God Bless you ... hey, did you drop this Bible?" ;)

I agree with your concerns with giving too much power to corporate entities. The reason the state assumed social welfare responsibilities is because in the past religious organizations were selective with their charity/philanthropy (the "deserving" poor) which was offered as part of both overt and implicit efforts to proselytize.

I really hope he isn't elected. However, after the nation elected W. to two straight terms, it'd probably be par for the course.

He bills himself as the top candidate for keeping the country secure, yet he was the mayor of a city that was attacked twice by terrorists.

I agree on the wording. There were several like that. I have no issue with churches implementing welfare type programs, but it shouldn't government funded.

Other than allowing individuals the right to practice freely without persecution, religion has no place in government or education.

Guliani isn't exactly in line with my political beliefs either, but how can you hold him to blame for 9/11? The Mayor of NYC has little jurisdiction over the FAA, FBI, CIA, federal government, etc.

Compare his reaction to that disaster to Nagin in New Orleans pre- and post-Katrina.

Bill Richardson was an interesting candidate for me in the beginning. But as time went on, I began to see him as just one of the mainstream guys who will say what people want to hear to get elected.
