Fisher sits Vince Young for exhibition for violating team rule
Saturday, August 11, 2007

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Tennessee quarterback Vince Young sat out Saturday night's exhibition with the Washington Redskins, and coach Jeff Fisher said the punishment was for violating an unspecified team rule.

The 2006 Offensive Rookie of the Year had been due to play three or four series and start the Titans' first preseason game. But Fisher said in a statement about an hour before kickoff that backup Kerry Collins would start the game instead.

"He will be on the sidelines tonight, will practice this week and play next weekend at New England," Fisher said in the release.

Young started in Philadelphia last season after missing the team flight in Nashville. The quarterback had to fly into Philadelphia on his own but was not held out of that game. The Titans won that game to snap a two-game skid, only their third victory after starting the season 0-5.

Vince will not get a chance to run tonight in the opener.

I posted this in another thread.

But apparently Young was "suspended" because the Titan's brass feared that Young would get hurt by the tandem of Taylor and Landry.

No joke.

That's what fans on ES were saying.

Remarkable.
He obviously does not prescribe to the some-players-need-to-be-treated-differently school of thought.
I think it is monumental that Fisher would be this courageous to bench this Superstar.
Courageous or he knows he's a lame duck.

Aw, c'mon, they can't be serious over there. No sane person would think that.

Wait, maybe they are serious.
