Some choice quotes that I loved hearing
http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showthread.php?t=59610
Wow, Bates' scheme of just lining up and beating guys is really kicking *** so far. The only thing that stopped that 1st drive is Romo tripping over his OL,...
Ok some quick Observations about the game so far.
1. Cowboys Offensive line is destroying our Defensive line
5. The Cowboys defense is what I thought ours would be like. They are very aggressive and bring pressure ever SNAP not just on 3rd and long.
at least were moving the ball, although its backwards
haha if this was madden, id press the reset button right now
Over powered by a massive line on their first drive, and they got a gift from our offense on their second score.
So far we are over matched on all sides of the ball. The offense looks scared...especially Cutler. No chemistry with anyone he is throwing to
Dallas already pulling starters....Owens is supposedly done for the night....they proved their point?
On the last play did you guys see our Right DT get blow up off the line? Im mean as soon as the ball was snapped he was knocked back a good 1 1/2 yards, he was still on feet mostly because the blocker left him and went searching for a LB....
I guess all those so called 'bias' reports from Cowboys fans about how badly we were getting burned in scrimmage were not exactly 'Bias' aye?
Yes folks this Defense is that bad, and so is DJ Williams.
77 total net yards at the half by our first string offense. 22 rushing, 55 passing.
219 given up by our defense. 97 yards RUSHING, and 122 passing.
Dallas TD....I'm losing track...think it's 31-13 now....time to grab some crown and go look for a meteor shower I think.

I went on a few sites and you'll have a hard time finding any of those. The guys with the Orange goggles on are all busy saying, "It's only pre-season, don't worry." But they certainly aren't saying anything good.

It was. Even moreso with the first-teamers. They were completely outclassed by us in nearly every facet of the game, especially in the trenches. We controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides.

That's why these games sucked under Parcells. We'd have games sorta like these (I don't recall us every looking this dominant, though) where we'd beat up on somebody in August, and then I'd remember how inconsistent we were when it mattered.
For some reason I get the sense it won't be like that this year, but that may just be blind optimism.

Alot of them are blaming Wade for "gameplanning" this like a regular season game.
Phillips and crew game planned ofr this game...you can tell by all the blitzes they are runningThis might sound like I'm making excuses, and maybe I am, but this game looked like a classic case of one team using this game to evaluate talent and the other using it to gain momentum going into the season. I know Shanny always says he plays every game to win, but the Broncos were vanilla on everything, while the Cowboys obviously game-planned to win the game. From what they were saying on TV the Cowboys were doing a lot of things they never showed at all during the 3 days of practices, whereas the Broncos were doing the same thing through practices and the game.Wade might be happy he got his "revenge" against the Broncos for dismissing him many years ago, but this was a bad move by both him and Jason Garrett. Both revealed many "regular season" plays during this game. The G-men, Iggles, and Skins just got some valuable film.
poor decision by Phillips to let revenge cloud his mind.
Wade Phillips was bringing all sorts of stunts and that kind of stuff. That is the word at least. Besides, I think we all know that Wade could give an f' about our squad, town, or Shanahan, of course he would try to stick it to us a little more than another team.

Pretty good sale on sour grapes tonight in Denver.
I have a feeling Wade still hasn't fully unleashed the defense yet, either. That's what's so scary about all this. Imagine this group when their assignments are second nature?

Especially in the first half, when it was mostly starter on starter... the score at halftime was 24-6, the Broncos got their 2 field goals after Cowboys turnovers reasonably deep in their own territory... the Boys never punted in that half, they gained roughly 220 yards to the Broncos' 75... and the half ended on a 52 yard field goal by rookie Nick Folk...
Even with the two turnovers, it was a dream half (except if you're a Broncos fan)...
That's two games against teams that were pretty good last year, and two pretty convincing victories for the Boys, in which our starters outplayed theirs...

Look WITHIN the game-the Raiders O blew chunks in those games(and they pretty much did the entire season), and Peyton, Freeney, et al were their usual solid self in the (few)series he played in.
BTW-we played with backup WRs, OTs, and CB #1 throughout the first half against a team that played ALL of their starters-so what does that say?

The records dont matter since preseason games are won and lost by scrubs who wont make the team, Last season in preseason the Raiders D looked good and their O looked like crap, regular season rolled around and their D finished 4th and their O sucked.
Indy never plays manning or Harrison more than 2 series so of course Sorgi sucks and loses their games
Just watch the starters to see how the season will fare, because your starters cant suck and then turn it on later when the season begins
As of right now we played Colts and Broncos and our starters are winning
30-9

I hear you OGT. I just want to see it when the Giants come to town. I am as excited about Cowboy football right now as I have been in a while. This team has that certain hunger. You cant coach that. The players have to believe and these guys seem to be on that path. I just saw some highlights and the whole team looked like they were playing their butts off.

i'm all for optimism but... this is all smoke and mirrors. even phillips's aggressive scheme tonight is but a smidge in the playbook. and it goes for both teams. the Broncos are gonna be a tough tough team in the reg season, and I think our Cowboys may be vying for a conference championship. but to think that Dallas would be able to hold down a talented outfit and playcaller like Shanahan to those kind of numbers is a complete fallacy.
I think what you want to do in the preseason is 1) build chemistry 2)evaluate talent and 3) demonstrate ability.
The Cowboys are three for three, with one extra "arrow up" caveat. we are stopping the run. if nothing else, defensing the run MUST be a "given", and this comes with good technique, timing, purpose, and tackling.
Everyone should be happy because of all things preseason I've always felt that run defense carries over to the rest of the season. we were good last year vs run, this year we could be special, and if we make people pass against us... Phillips' blitz schemes could make for some overwheling problems for opposing offenses.

The final score means nothing, but it does mean something that they couldn't run the ball on us. AT ALL.
That's not exotic scheme, gameplanning, or anything else. That's just us whipping them. Denver runs the ball on everyone, but not on us tonight.
Preseason or not, I guarantee you Shanahan didn't want us in his backfield all night.

We are always wise to caution our success during the preseason but I like what Romo pointed out. He stated that if you can't get it right in pre-season it would be even less likely you wouldn't get it right in the regular season.

:lmao:There's no doubt they were as vanilla as can be and we weren't and their offensive tackle situation is so bad they were wishing they had Jacob Rodgers healthy. So take this game for what it's worth, a glorified practice. The defense sure is more fun to watch though.

Now I didn't watch the game, but will later this afternoon, but from what I heard listening to it,besides the reverse to Owens early,Jason Garrett didn't spill his whole bag of tricks last night,as some claim. I think what he did "spill' was the fact that what this team will be this year, more than anything,is BALANCED!!! I believe at one point late in the game, the # of runs and # of passes was dead even. Let 'em learn from that!

in the defense of the broncos, they were missing their key oline guys. also if shanahan wanted, which he kind of did at one point, they could've marched down the field with brandon marshall on aaron glenn all day long.
also, their cornerbacks handled the backup wrs. only with the crossing routes and slips by cbs did guys get open.
the game was won in the trenches, so that we can be happy about. the oline looks good, granted not too many stunts being run, but leonard davis is abusing people. he messed up once, missing a lb in space, but place a dlineman in front of him and Bigg will win that battle. the dline was getting penetration and the lbs and safeties were making good tackles. they just need to work on the screen recognition, as always.
also, i didn't think the cowboys got that much pressure. watching the chargers against the rams, those guys were ferocious. the cowboys were able to collapse the pocket, but didn't have any guys running free to the qb

Its a biblical fan law that if you lose a preseason game badly, it's because the other team 'game planned' you. That's right up there with saying your team 'played not to lose' when your team loses a close game. If you can't follow those two rules, you might as well just turn in your internet messageboard football fan card membership.
