Texans owner Bob McNair said Tuesday — with his tongue firmly planted in his cheek, of course — that he is offering clemency to Cowboys fans in the Houston area.
At the team's annual luncheon at the Westin Galleria, McNair offered Cowboys fans in Houston a chance to become Texans fans, and he's putting money where his mouth is. McNair said any Cowboys fan bringing their jersey to the team's store at Reliant Stadium can get a $15 discount on a new Texans jersey.
McNair said he would make the same offer to fans of other teams, as well.
"This gives all Houstonians the opportunity to become Texans," McNair said with a laugh. "Going into the new season, we want to create a home-field advantage and a regional advantage, too. This is a great chance for fans to get behind what promises to be an exciting season."
All those Cowboys who are ready, willing and able to change their allegiance from America's Team can go to www.houstontexans.com or call 832-667-2004 for more information.
The line starts on Kirby.

Can't blame the guy for trying. Any 'Boys fan who would switch teams like that was never a real fan to begin with. Weed out the fakers, McNair.

He's obviously got a great sense of humor. Next thing you know he'll get a t-shirt made showing the Texans holding the cup they won on Saturday.

Maybe Jerry should send him a trophy case (much smaller version of the case we have holding our 5 Lombardi Trophies) so the cup can be safely stored there for future generations of Texan fans to gaze in awe. Ha.

He should worry about keeping Texans fans first before trying to convert others.

Hahahaha, nice quote.

I've been blessed with this gift, I can see the positive in most any situation... that's why I'm sometimes called Pollyanna Bear...

Contrary to vicious rumors making the rounds, I'm NOT called that because of my fondness for crossdressing... that would make me a Skins fan, wouldn't it??

LMAO, they are doing the same thing for fans who bring in old Texan jerseys from players who panned out like David Carr and Tony Boselli.

The local hockey team, the Vancouver Canucks pulls that stunt re my team the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs who both have legions of fans across the country. The Cannots offer to take your Canadiens/Leafs jerseys and use it toward the purchase of a Cannot jersey.

No real fan takes them up on it.

I live close enough to Houston that I listen to their radio stations quite a bit. This morning they were saying that the Texans would give $15 off any Texans jerseys at the Reliant store to anyone turning in a Cowboys jersey!!:lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

Sorry, I heard it while bringing my kids to school and thought it was so funny I just ran in to create the thread without looking! Thanks for merging it!

Loyalty can't be bought Bob, it is pretty sad when you have to bribe people to be a fan of your team

IMO any fan that would do that, become a Texans fan just cuz they got a discount on a Texans jersey... they can have them. That's what most of their fans are anyway, unloyal.

If they were LOYAL, the Oilers would still be around and in Houston.

Then again, if there is a member of your family that likes the Texans and you have old dirty Cowboys' jerseys around and you want rid of them, why not use it to save yourself some coin ;)

Not to sound like a Houston apologist or anything, but that's a bit harsh.

Oilers attendence was generally good, in fact it was a lot better than it probably should have been considering how awful the team was for much of their history. For example, for the period 1987-1993 the Oilers actually averaged more fans per game than the Dome had seats.

Want more proof of their loyalty? In five seasons, the Texans have never had an unsold ticket for a regular season home game. This despite a winning % that is the lowest for any expansion franchise since the merger.

Texans fans may not be the brightest folks on the planet, what with their strutting around as if winning the Governor's Cup actually meant something. But you can't say they aren't loyal to a fault.
