I thought Campo losing to Houston Texans was bad

the #5 team in the country losing to a 1-AA team at home

horrendous

I'm thinking this is far worse than Chaminade beating UVA w/ Ralph Sampson

Lloyd Carr, your time is up

Damn! This is a shame! John Saunders had said a few minutes ago that Michigan had retaken the lead and Appalachian State (sp?) won it anyway? Wow! Just wow!

I can't believe we couldn't get that game on TV. It was thrilling just following the gametracker. I'm a Montana fan and App. State is a beast in D1 FCS. Nevertheless, no excuse for Michigan to choke at home. I just hope this lands on ESPN Classic soon. This is what makes college football great.

That was a great game to watch. Came down to the final seconds. What kind of program allows two blocked kicks in the 4th quarter?

I didn't have the game here but was glued waiting on epsn gamebreaks for updates. The highlights were amazing...wish I could have seen this game live :/ This is why I HATE preseason rankings. Rankings shouldn't happen until a few games in.

But App State has been the champs of 1-AA(guess its now the D1 FCS) for two consecutive years. :) Okay my new fave 1-AA team. Appalachian State Mountaineers!!!

Michigan took the lead with 4 minutes left then got an interception on the next series. APP blocked a FG then drove the ball down and kicked a FG with 30 seconds.

Michigan drove back down and a prayer and had a FG attempt with 6 seconds left from the 20. App blocked the kick and ran it back to the five to end the game...

I say it every year. Michigan is over rated. And they prove it every year.

App St kicked that game winner on first down. They had 0 time outs left and thought better of trying to run another play.

So far the new kick off rules have given offenses good field position in most of the games I have seen. A lot of weak legged kickers out there in college.

Wait until you hear the App St announcers with the call on the blocked kick. They just played it on ESPN radio and will likely play it all weekend long. You would have thought they just won the lottery. I know where the party is tonight.

The Michigan kicker tackled better than the entire Wolverine defense and saved a TD that would have made it 40 points for App St.

It's a boon for 1-AA football. Most players on those teams were D-1 recruits at some point and ended up in 1-AA for some reason.

Most top flight 1-AA programs can't compete regularly with D-1 because of depth but can hang for a while with starters in.

Big 10 .....

What an overrated conference.

Remember last year, the various pundits thought Michigan and Ohio State were the two best teams AND that the National Championship game should have been a re-match game.

What a bunch of overhyped pretenders!

Just imagine what happens if Michigan somehow manages to beat OSU this season. It would be fun to watch message boards of both schools after that. I need to find a good Michigan board today.

That God I have DirecTV...so I have the Big ten Network.

There was quite a uproar around here with plenty of people that have cable missing the game.

If there ever was a year for Michigan HAVING to beat Ohio St it's this year.

Ohio St...lost their Heisman QB starting RB and Both their starting WR's that went in the First round.

Plus Michigan had their stars come back for one more shot at Ohio St.

And the games at the Big House.

Carr may not make it past this year anyway...but if he loses to Ohio St again...he's done for sure.

Most D1aa schools hope to just hang in their my Sam Houston Bearkats got rolled last year by the Long Horns it did not help we where playing are 3rd string QB that year after like game 2 because of injury. :(

The sad part for Michigan is they lost at home they should fall from #5 out of the top 25 with that performance and deserve to fall that far. Please at home to a D1aa school should have been a cake walk.

Props to Appalachian State for playing their arses off and getting this game. I love it when a D1aa school pops up every now and then and steals a win from a big boy.

The polls love Michigan. Every year they are ranked too high to start the season. I can see them dropping, but will be surprised if they fall completely out of the top 25 even though they should.

Searched a Wolverine board and it was not too good. There was one good comment:

"Too bad Bo was not alive to see this one."

But he's got to be turning over in his grave.

Look at this tid bit that I didn't know.

No Division I-AA team had beaten a team ranked in The Associated Press poll from 1989-2006, and it’s unlikely that it happened after Division-I subdivisions were created in 1978.

WOW!

He'll soon be starring in "The Crow 3: Revenge of the Big House"...

That's as bad a loss for any team ever in modern college football. This will stick with them forever...

The last time I remember it happening was when my SFA Lumberjacks knocked off Louisiana Tech about 5 years ago... and Tech has had some good teams but they are no Michigan...

And Tech wasn't ranked then... it just doesn't happen much...

I'm sure it's happened since though to someone... just not on this scale...

I don't think that ever happened.

On Sunday night I was flipping channels and came across The Longest Yard. The Adam Sandler version. I had not seen it and was not impressed, but sat through the whole thing. Anyway there was a scene where the warden was asking Sandler's character Paul Crewe what he could do to get the guards team ready for their big game. Crewe responded by saying that in college his team would schedule a weak team such as Appalachian St. to start the season so they could beat up on them and get their confidence up. It just was so poetic that that team was the one mentioned after they upset Michigan. If I were the coach I would get that clip and play it over and over for his players.

Hey, it's going to be a stellar 2 years for Appalachian State. First they knock off a giant of the college football world. Then next year, this notable character (http://digg.com/videos/comedy/Miss_South_Carolina_gets_a_do_over_on_the_Today_Sh ow) enrolls as a freshman.
