View Full Version : Lets Go Pittsburgh!!

Our first step towards the #1 pick in the 2008 Draft. For 1 week, and 1 week only I love their overrated QB, their annoying (and slightly gay) towel waving fans, and their "history". Make me proud Steel City, and then go to hell (at least until the 2nd matchup) when I will root for you again.

Wouldn't that be 2 weeks instead of 1?

did he really? or did he pick them to beat the spread? i didn't see it, but it seems like an awful big stretch to pick them over Pitt

Let me get this straight.... you cant/wont root for another team even their win would allow you/your team to benefit...
I am big Cowboy fan... if the game doesnt directly affect me/my team and allows us to gain... then I will root for ANY team if the end result is that we gain something.
I am sure thats just me though

I hope that when Swami is in his deathbed he is trapped helplessly in his hospital room with the television stuck on a Cowboys Super Bowl tribute on his own beloved ESPN, he will be fully conscious and unable to do a damned thing about it, then once they are declared "America's Team" at the end of the film it will be the last words he hears as he fades out and into eternity.

As a Cowboy fan, I'll root temporarily for any team if it will help the Cowboys. Some of those teams, I'll stand up and cheer for them. Others, I'll just sit and glare.

Yes it's difficult...but sometimes you have to "take one for the team"....and all that. ;)
The saving grace is that you only have to root for them twice....and next week you can root for some other no-account low-rent team playing the Browns. :D

It doesn't matter, even if we get the number one over all pick, we'll trade it. I just don't see Jerry paying out #1 cash to anyone. It's the smarter play to trade it for multiple picks and have a better shot at a good pick, for a lot less money.

I am sure thats just me thoughIn this case, the draft is a crap shoot. There are too many variables to consider.
What if we 'devote' a significant amount of energy into rooting against the Browns--only to see them being more successful that one or more teams and move down in the draft?
What if something happens to one of the players (i.e. McFadden, etc.) we as fans are targeting for next April's draft? Will rooting against the Browns this season defect an injury to one of the prospects we desire next year?
What if Jerry Jones offers up the Cleveland pick in trade and moves down in the draft next April? Maybe he'll be the biggest fan this season for any team playing against the Browns, but for reasons that differ from our own.
Nah. I'll let the the Browns' or any other team's future play out on its own without any rah-rah from yours truly. Fate, as always, will be what it shall be.
Go (100%) Cowboys! :)

I've got two reasons for pulling for the Steelers. The obvious regarding the Cleveland pick and the fact that I picked them in my elimination league.

wow, I had to really think about this situation of rooting/not rooting for a Pittsburg win. Yes, it defies the "Rule of Law" in being a Cowboys fan. Hmmmmm, let me ask you this. Would it balance it out, if I rooted for a Pittsburg win (for obvious reasons trying to get the number one pick), and at the same time rooted for their quarterback and Runningback to be knocked out for the season?
I mean, I'd get a double wammy warm and fuzzy feeling afterwards, getting what I wanted?
hmmm, pondering....

Its not a crap shoot and there are no variables if you root for Pitt 2x this year and the Browns lose and go 0-16 because of it.
Its a lock.

in their minds they accomplished the following
1. got their franchise QB
2. have a chance to start grooming him THIS year instead of next

Probably final grade will depend on what the QB's do in their careers.

I think they can... it's just that once the 3rd QB comes in, the other QBs can't play for the rest of the game. Which is why they're talking about 4th Q.

Why did they come up with those crazy rules about the QB? Or was it just a way for someone to save a spot on the active roster. THough I have always thought that if you have 53 players you should be able to use all of them in any one game.
