I know this belongs in the sports zone, but WOW WOW WOW.

Amazing game.

Rockies just won in the bottom of the 13th down by 2 runs. This was the 1 game playoff to see who gets the wild card.

it's on TBS.

Now on the replay, it looks like the winning run (Holiday) never got the plate

Good to see Todd Helton make the playoffs. One of the best of this generation needs to be on a big stage.

Really exciting finish...

Not sure what that ump was thinking on the safe call...

If he had waived him safe immediately, I doubt there would be any questions...

thekavorka

The ump based his call on whether the Catcher had the ball or not. Since the ump saw the ball fall out, he called it safe.

Bad way to do things. That's why replay should be in baseball.

He never touched homeplate - I'd be sick if I'm a Padres fan...disgrace - the ump wasn't even in position ...

Hoffman has 500 career meaningless saves - not a pimple on Mariano's backside...

Good thing I don't care about baseball or the Padres, because if I did, I'd be pretty pissed right now! :D

you guys must have not seen that hr that the rockies got robbed of in the later part of the game. extra innings may not have been needed.

Well, the umps owed the Rox a run after blowing the call on the Garrett Atkins homerun.

BTW, my two fave sports teams are the Cowboys and the Rockies. I am really enjoying this year in sports!

I was flipping back and forth between that game and MNF so I guess I missed that...

It was an exciting game nonetheless... which is rare for baseball...

I disagree on the 'horrible call' comment.

According to the rules, a player may not block a base/plate impeding the runners path without the ball. Holliday was impeded, as was his hand.

As long as the fielder is holding the ball, he can block the base/plate however he likes to make the play.

Barrett never had control of the ball.

Ruling should have been obstruction- i.e. dead ball- plate awarded to the runner.

I cant remember the last time they enforced that rule. Blocking the plate with or without the ball has become common place.

Besides as somone from Colorado I think he caught the black part of the plate with his pinky. :lmao2:

It's kind of an unwritten rule. If the ball is still in the outfield, then the catcher can get called for interference.

But if the ball is on it's way home, they never enforce that rule.

Kind of like holding, eh? It is illegal but refs/umps only call it when they feel like it.
