Default Big D Day: The Dallas Cowboys went on the attack in the ['91] NFL draft

With the draft coming up, I thought it would be neat to look back at the wheeling-and-dealing the JJs did as part of the '91 draft. This SI article by Peter King made my head spin:
Big D Day: The Dallas Cowboys went on the attack in the NFL draft and took all the right prisoners

April 29, 1991
Peter King
Man, those were the days!

I do miss Jimmy. Neither Russell nor Alvin were in Dallas for long, but those were great days. I never worried if Jimmy knew what he was doing like I do sometimes with Jerry.

Its no secret I've been a major critic of Jerry's GM skills, but I think his '07 and '08 drafts were pretty good, not to mention BP's '03 and '05 draft classes.

Jerry says Wade > Parcells in modern day talent evaluation. I don't know if that's true, but the point is that the '07 and '08 drafts were JJ/WP and the '03 and '05 drafts were JJ/BP.

Anyway you slice it, Jerry's drafts since 2003 have been light years better than his drafts in the second half of the '90s and early 2000s.

If he needs a Wade, Bill or Jimmy to help him make quality draft decisions, I hope he's man enough to admit that and to keep a HC with skill at evaluating talent.
