Now that we got Ferguson what will become of Glover? Does He play end? Is he traded? or do we alternate between 3-4 and 4-3

I think we'll alternate between 4-3 and 3-4. Ferguson can play both, and it'd provide some flexibility defensively for us. Glover seems wide enough to be a DE in a 3-4, but is he tall enough? Will he be effective?

I think some of these concerns will be filled in the draft, where the heart of the 3-4 DE/OLB types will be available.

Now all we need is to get someone that can play LB in a 3-4 or DE in a 4-3.

I sincerely hope he stays and plays end in 3-4 situations and plays the 3 technique DT in 4 man line sets. He is an asset in that he is a playmaker, period.

How great is this we get the DT to play the 3-4 possibly a solid corner in Henry. The year that we plan to go to the 3-4 there seams to be an abundent amount of talented hybrid DE/OLB in free agency and draft. A multiple number of Safties in draft. Don't forget the Bus driver. We can't lose this year. Sorry Eagles you had your chance.

He's available for a first round pick.

It's far-fetched, but could he play ILB? He would be awesome as a tackler and pass-rusher from the inside. He'd be a liability in coverage, but most 3-4 inside backers are not very good in coverage.

I think honestly we could use him to swap picks with someone ahead of us if we're hell bent on getting Shawne Merriman or Mike Williams, or even Ronnie Brown (we were reported to be talking to him often at the combine). Maybe La'Roi Glover and the #11 pick for Tennessee's #6 pick and a 3rd or 4th.

Tennessee's will likely need to pick a CB, losing both Rolle and Dyson. #11 is perfect for them. They save money by trading down. They still have plenty of great CB prospects to choose from. We ensure we get Shawne Merriman - FINALLY we have a pass rusher.

I don't know if Glover and play DE in a 3-4, but he's good enough to take the chance and find out. Worst case scenario: he can't do it and he becomes a pass rush specialist for a season. He's not making TOO much money so it wouldn't be that big of a waste. Plus, he'd be fresh on passing downs.

Play some 4-3 DT. If he can't play both we need to trade him or he would tip a D off what front we are in.The beauty of a 3-4, 4-3 mix is you can play it one play and switch next play and not change personel. You start trotting players in and out QB's will be on it.

I don't think you want any 'tweeners' as starters. Glover will be unhappy if he isn't starting. And making a transition to a 3-4 might take Glover more than 1 season to make. I'm not sure the Cowboys want to invest that time into an experiment.

Not with a guy like Glover who can start on anybodies DL in the NFL in a 4-3.

He's going to be shopped to somebody who can use him in a 4-3 defense and a 50+ play guy..

BP made several statements during his interview at the Combine to the fact that he's available as is anybody on the defense for the right price. Since BP doesn't make a bunch of false statements, I'd take that as clear speaking made so other teams will hear it and ask questions.

I think there will be multiple teams interested in the guy who is coming off another Pro Bowl year and isn't too old. I wouldn't doubt that the HC's there were all talking about who might be available for trade after FA has begun.

If he stays, he probably won't start. And to not have him be a starter would be a crime. It would be a waste of a year for him and devalue him to keep him for another year. Trade him now while he has value to rebuild the defense.

They will draft or sign a DE for their 3-4 to go along with Fergusion and they will need a draft pick or FA player who can play OLB in the scheme. Most teams would do one or the other that is losing some DL players in FA now.

Right now is the time to shop him, while teams are going to be looking to fill holes and aren't going to want to wait for the draft and take unproven players.

Glover is a proven player. And there are plenty of 4-3 teams that need to improve their Dl's.

In our new schemes, we need about 2-3 stud LB's. Glover should secure one of those for us.

Now, about Ellis..? He might take a bit longer to shop as he's not the name that Glover is. But some teams will pay for him being a former #1 and being very productive and versatile in a 4-3 playing either end and even can play a little DT.

I think he's gone, too. Same way. We need the players to remake the "D".

I seem to be in the minority, but I still don't believe that the Boys will be moving full-time to the 3-4 just yet. I know it was in the NJ paper, but who are they? Everyone has their opinion, but before today, most of us believed that the Boys would stay at the 4-3 because of the personnel we currently have and from some comments from JJ in his past interview. Of course, they are just assumptions, but waiting on the official word.

The key is we just signed a guy that THRIVED in the 4-3. Glover and Ellis are both solid in the 4-3.

Remember, the direction we go is based on who we aquire and so far, at best you are looking at only part-time 3-4.

I agree, and all the paper said was Dallas will be using the scheme-- they didn't say Dallas would chuck the 4-3 entirely.

I think a defense that can shift to either would have to be a talented, versatile, veteran group that might not be possible in the free agency era. Still Dallas can acheive that but needs a powerful DE (like Spears) and at least two LB's with Dexter gone.
