Default Bengals looking to trade down and take Dalton?

michaelombardi Michael Lombardi
Love being here in Radio City, getting ready for the draft, and hear the Bengals are looking to trade down from number 4 pick Andy Dalton.

.........

Dalton may be gone by 10 Cincy, better act fast

Our first and second round pick would put the Cowboys above the 4th picks value by 50 points.

Cowboys 1st and 2nd round picks for Cincy's 1st and 5th.

Dont get married to the value chart.

The Browns traded 5 for 17 and a 2nd round pick. Losing out on the chart by like 400 points. If the intenet is there a deal can be made.

Plus if we are going by 2010 cap rules there is no wage scale correct?

I am ok with swapping 1st round picks and giving up a 3rd.

But when we start talking about trading our 2nd round pick is where I put the breaks on.

Amen. That high second should be a talented starter, and a cheap one.

Of course, some would be fine with going Mike Ditka for Peterson.

I agree. I wouldn't send a second rounder.

Also, without a CBA, can the teams trade future picks?

Yes they can

And I agree the 2nd would be the line.....unless they could get a 3rd back sort of thing

Best they could get is a 5th. A 3rd would carry to much value. (Cowboys 1st and 2nd for Cincy's 1st and 5th) Cincy isn't going to lose value for the 4th pick.

Don't know about the CBA question.

Thing about if we take Peterson that we really have to be careful about.

Let's say we move up with the 3rd pick to get peterson.

You know they will probably want to trade down in the second to secure another pick.

I get that whole scary just missing a player that they like so they trade down again until we wind up taking some OT that winds up of the roster in a year or on the practice squad.

Or move back up into the 1st again and get a 1st round OL in addition to Peterson

Then next year you worry about the budding needs like ILB, G, and DE

If they really want Dalton, they shouldn't trade down, they should take him at 4. It will be laughed at, but Tennessee is wanting him at 8 and may move up with Cleveland to get him.
