Default FWST: Young safeties make an impact as Cowboys search for help

SAN ANTONIO -- The first loud pop of training camp came from second-year safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, who put a hit on running back Lonyae Miller in an aggressive play on run support.

It couldn't have sounded better to the Cowboys, who would like their backups to emerge while they wait for the free-agent safety market to get a little more affordable.

Michael Huff re-signed with the Raiders on Sunday, taking a potential Cowboys target out of the picture. That leaves the team chasing perhaps Abe Elam, but a team source said his asking price, and that of other free agent safeties, is still too high.

Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

You guys have got to quit panicking we have "bait" in the water.Probably waiting on Lawrence Taylor to get into game shape or some other FAs on the cheap.I mean lets not be free spending here.We only the best stadium and most expensive franchise. No need to put out the big money here.
