Realistic Scenario
We make trade for Howard for our second rounder.
BP believes that Vollers and Tucker can get job done at RT and Hunter is the ball hawking centerfield FS we need.
Now DJ and Merriman are off the board when we draft. Which player do you draft. I personally would trade down and pick up extra picks in the 2nd and 3rd. Who or what would you do?

Would depend on who is avaliable if someone like Edwards, Williams, or Rolle were available I'd take one of them (yes Rolle he's that good I would not pass up on him) if none of them are available then sure trade down if we can....

I would add Spears to that list but if we have Howard that might not be the best move. I agree though, move down if none of those three guys are there.

Then what do you do with him? Play him at CB or FS?

trade down both spots just a couple of slots and pick up Mark Clayton and Jammal Brown. Maybe Pool if we could get an early 2nd by trading down.

Draft Williams.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

That may or may not be true, but it was NOT part of the original question. I stand by my answer given the conditions of the question in the original post.

Yeah, unfortunately you're right. What's worse is he's almost guaranteed to go to Washington. It's a tough call, but given the scenario you laid out, I'm tempted to agree, the team would then trade down (maybe a couple of times), and accumulate some picks.

Regardless of whether or not we could make the trade to move up in the draft, I just don't think that there is a player in this draft worth moving up for and that includes Edwards and Williams. If we want to spend a 1st rounder on a WR there are Williamson, White and Clayton one of whom will be there at #20 and we don't have to give up extra picks. This draft is deep but not top heavy, it is a better year to move down if possible than to move up.
