Default Norm Draft Day tidbits...

As usual I can't tell if this is Norm's opinions or what he's heard from his sources...

-- Doesn't believe reports that Dallas is trading up for Barron. They really like a lot of the players in the 3rd and 4th round.

-- They've fallen back in love with DeCastro, particularly after he said he would be willing to play center. Of course they would love an opportunity to get Cox, but it will probably come down to a choice between Barron and DeCastro at 14, and Brockers has fallen behind those two. Between DeCastro and Barron a bluechip player will be there at #14 who will be ready to step in as a Day 1 starter.

-- Cowboys aren't touching the character risks of Coples, Jenkins, Jeffery, Denard. Also Dre Kirkpatrick and Bruce Irvin.

Example 1A of why waiting till the last minute to do a mock is bad. More often then not, the word you hear a month ago is what it is.

Trade back with the Chargers and still land Decastro?

Don't risk it, if you want DeCastro take him at #14 and never look back. He WILL be a great player almost as surely as the sun will rise tomorrow, and there's no shame in picking a sure thing at #14 even if it is a guard.

I agree.

I don't like drafting guards as high as 14, but if they love Decastro, trading down to pick up a late 4th or something would be silly if it means risking losing the guy you love.

I agree as well. The Cowboys should be like Tammy Wynettte and... Stand by their man! <sniff>

Thanks IR.

Of course, I always take anything Norm says with a tub of salt, (a grain just isn't enough) but #2 and #3 seem pretty sound. #1 is obviously just Norm's opinion.

I'm on board with #3. Though, I *could* make an exception with Irvin if I can get him late enough. As for the Coples and Jenkins, I wouldn't touch them. (don't know much about the others)
Formerly the notorious nyc!

I've got more red flags than Soviet Russia!

There is a good chance that you don't like me, but there is a better chance that I don't care.

If I'm not insulting you, I'm probably not aware that you exist.

Jerry Jones in the draft room is suicide on the football field. The line of scrimmage is EVERYTHING. Something Jerry doesn't understand.

Norm seems to think the most likely trade scenerio would involve DeCastro and Barron sitting there at #14 equally rated, and the Cowboys moving back a couple of spots with the Jets at #16 knowing they would take Barron and the Cowboys would then take DeCastro at #16.

Wow.

They're not in love with Barron as much as we think. Or maybe they're confident in one of the 2nd tier safeties like Harrison Smith, Iloka or Taylor.

I hope one of the scenarios Norm paints is how it falls.

Gimme DeCastro and the Jets' #154 and 2013 third-rounder.

(They have no 4th-round selection this year.)

ESPN was saying just a bit ago that the Cowboys were in love with Jenkins.

Really isn't any rumor you can trust, especially in the last few hours.

...I just don't believe it with all the money we have invested in the def. backfield: it's a smoke screen IMHO

Didn't say. Cowherd just said that's what he was told.
