Default Tyrann Mathieu - Honey Badger

For next year, I was wondering what the draft experts think about him playing FS? He flies around and plays physical enough to be a FS. I hate how short he is but I think he knows he has to make up for that with his play.

There's also T.J. McDonald as Casmith has mentioned a couple of times on here who plays nasty which is much needed from our DB's.

IMO, I'd love to see them address Safety next year in the first and then dedicate the rest to DL/OL then maybe LB and take a page out of the Eagles book this year.

Any input?

They have shown that they do not want to draft a Safety that high.

I don't think that's true. I think they would have moved up and taken Barron if Claiborne wasn't there. If my memory serves me correctly--which it often doesn't, but hopefully it will this time--Stephen addressed how safety was one of the positions they were looking to address in the first round in one of the interviews CowboyJoe posted.

I'm not sure Tyrann Mathieu can project as a S with his size and weight. (5-9, 175)

Even as a corner he will be considered small for NFL standards.
"It's little bit like the description of pornography from years back. It's hard to define it. But you know what it is at the end of it. It's hard to define it. I think you know who is more physical. Often times you see that in the fourth quarter. A lot of time the team on the other side feels it. We pride ourselves on being a physical football team. It's important to us. It's an important time of the year to lay that foundation." - Coach Garrett

Him or Ray-Ray Armstrong will do nicely.

I think he could be a Bob Sanders like safety. But like Sanders he would probably be out of the league in a few years of starting. Hes just way too small to have any type of long term success in the NFL. It will be interesting to see where he gets drafted for sure.

I mean if it's Honey Mustard Dressing I'd be okay with that. That's some good stuff.

I think he's a real play maker, I don't know about playing FS though....
