So Romo called the play to o-tree on 3rd and 1?
Sorry I can't get link to paste with iPad but in newszone broadus is reporting that Romo had option for a running play or pass play and checked off in to a pass play. Then Romo locked on to the low percentage throw to o- tree instead of hitting Austin dragging over the middle for the easy first down ? I wanted Red dead because of that call and it turned out to be Romo ???!!!!
I've had sympathy for Romo till this point with our o-line and dumb receivers. But to have a veteran quarterback make that decision in that situation makes Romo a huge part of the problem. Moronic idiot decision that probably cost us the game.

Ivy league needs to use his brilliant mind and call ONE play in that situation. Call the one play that will work!

That's a great idea. He should do that every play. Just call the one play that will work.
This coaching stuff seems pretty simple when you break it down.

Agreed, thats what coaching is all about. Run the show. Tell your QB to run the ball, dont let him audible. So Romo is calling the plays now? So what does Garrett do exactly for this team?

Romo has been calling the plays for a long time. That's why so many snaps at .01 second or delay of game. When he starts barking out signals and throwing his hands and arms in all directions you can bet trouble is around the corner, usually. I have watched the play results many times after his gyrations and found they normally end badly.

We shouldn't have been trying to put it in the end zone at that point anyway.
2nd and 1 at the 19 with 1:20 left, if OTree makes that catch then we're giving it back to Eli with way too much time left and multiple timeouts, and all he needs is a FG to tie or even win.
Situationally, we should have been trying to pick up a few yards and run the clock, or at least force them to burn timeouts. 2nd and 1 was the perfect scenario for us to do this, but of course, we didn't seem to grasp that.

I hate JG more than anyone, but I have absolutely no qualms with the play design or play call. My only beefs are:
1. They threw 3 times in a row that series.
2. The play design was for Kevin Ogletree, who can't seem to get open, unless Romo is staying alive and their is some break down in coverage. Even then, he sucks. It's telling when you got Miles Austin and Dez Bryant on one side that KO can't even get open on single coverage. I mean, really, call it for another receiver with some speed.
The other problem is when Dallas finally took the lead and wasted a series away with 3 and outs, with the play calling absolutely going in a different direction than what was working to get them to 24 points in the first place. They wasted a whole series when they could have laid a pretty strong demoralizer.

Romo should have never thrown to that scrub. Simple as that. That play was on Romo if he was given THAT option.

If a receiver is open on a play, throw it to him, even if he is a scrub.

yeah we need to take that option away from romo. All the blame on garrett but lets not forget romo chooses between the two plays. Romo is a qb and he wants to throw throw throw. Call one or 2 run plays in that situation. Take the pass out of his hands.

Exactly. Its a crucial 3rd and 1. Any play that involves Ogletree is beyond stupid.
I understand the 2 calls in the huddle, but when its such a vital yard ivy league should be wearing the big boy pants.

It's called situational football. Something apparantly alien to Jason and Tony. The gunslinger mentality backfired this time.
"I could've done a $2 billion takeover (in another industry) with the capital I put in the Dallas Cowboys," he says. "I really could see (myself as) the idiot who had something real good, who blew it all to coach the Cowboys. I just knew that was going to be my legacy." Jerry Jones 9/14/2012

Pretty sure Ogletree was involved in our win Week 1 against the Giants. Sure was "stupid" using him then.

You've heard the phrase, every dog has his day... KO also played last year and flat-out sucked. One game in 2 years doesn't make him any good, nor does it mean you target him because he happened to get lucky, especially considering since that game, he's essentially been bottled up by everybody he's played against.
