Carnival magic or RCI Navigator Of The Seas

Out of Galveston? Anyone cruise these lines/ships? Opinons? Is there a "real" differance between the Two lines?

There are pros and cons to each ship.

My preference is RCI. In my opinon RCI ships are nicer. I'm a fan of the promenade that the larger RCI ships have. Which also includes the Navigator

Ive been on Navigator once for a 4 day cruise and thought the ship was great. Food is hit or miss though.

The Magic is newer and probably larger. The Navigator is tbe third largest class in fhe RCI fleet while the Magic is second largest.

Id choose based on price and itenary first and ship second

I've cruised on both lines and they both provide a quality experience. We get more past passenger perks on Carnival as we have sailed with them a fair bit, but I would go to Cruisecritic.com for feedback from passengers from most cruise ships. Last time we went (October 2011) a taxi driver in Miami said that Carnival was still the choice for families and that all the others were for the "Newly-Wed or the Nearly-Dead". I disagree and think it can vary from ship to ship. The cruise ship business is very competitive and the web site I noted can be a good source of info on upgrades, entertainment, ports and shore excursions.

My Fiance and I will be taking a cruise next year out of Galveston, more than likely on the Carnival Magic.

She has been on cruises before, but I havent.

How does the food and drink stuff work? Isn't food included and then you have to pay for Whiskey?

Any recomendations on things to do on the boat, we will be sailing on the Carnival ship more than likely.

I already have my "I'm on a boat" T-shirt ready to go.

As I understand it. Most food except specialty restaurants like the steak house and some of the icecream and sushie places, are free. Also alcohol, soda and bottled water they charge for. They have free tea, coffee, juice and such.

24 hour room service is free also, except I think RCI adds a service charge for after hours orders.

Your entertainment is free except the casino and some games like bingo.
I intend to spend alot of time in the adults only areas. (child free zones)
