Default Blitzing Washington rookie QB Robert Griffin III has been failed strategy

IRVING — Attacking a rookie quarterback is usually a sound strategy. After all, inexperienced players are usually prone to make mistakes when they are placed under pressure. But Washington’s Robert Griffin III may be the exception.

Among starting quarterbacks who have played a majority of their team’s games, Griffin III has posted a 125.0 passer rating when blitzed, the second-highest mark in the NFL after Week 10. He’s completed 28 of 47 pass attempts for 426 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions while being sacked five times in those situations.

Well, then. We're in luck this week. Rob likes to rush three and put 8 in coverage against rookie quarterbacks.

Rushing 3 would be even bigger failure.

Let's just forfeit. No way we are winning this one. Damned if we rush, damned if we don't.

RG3 is the real deal however Rob Ryan will have a nice game plan in place.

I hope he knows there is a game Thursday and isn't still smoking cigars because he beat the Browns.

To me the only shocker is that he has been blitzed just 47 times. I would of expected TWICE that at this point in the season.

I think you're missing the significance of the 125 rating when he's blitzed.

I'm just glad I don't have to defend that guy. Maybe they can spot some situations to blitz that have higher yields. I hope we don't get off to a slow start and can find some way to cut down the number of their offensive series. And as always turnovers.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

It's strange.

The Cowboys are sitting here at 5-5 with a legitimate chance at taking the lead in the NFC East by Sunday evening. The Redskins are coming in at 4-6, having dropped four of their past six. Their defense has been horrible, and they're starting a rookie quarterback, who's probably their best player right now.

Yet, I have this sinking feeling the Cowboys are about to get curb stomped on Thanksgiving.

Here's something you don't see every day. Griffin's rating is actually higher when he is knocked down.

Passer Rating when QB Knocked Down
Griffin 101.3
Dalton 75.0
Schaubb 70.2
Brees 68.4
Roethlisberger 66.3
Rodgers 58.9
Brady 57.6
Smith 46.6
Ryan 45.5
Romo 42.3
Flacco 39.6
PManning 28.6
Freeman 20.1
Rivers 0.0
