Twitter Nick Eatman: Cowboys sign three.

Nick Eatman ‏@nickeatman
Lots of moves: Signed Anthony Armstrong, LB Brady Poppinga to 53-man roster and CB Reggie Jones to practice squad.

I do like Armstrong. He was really good a couple years ago. At least worth a shot. We don't have that top-end speed on the roster.

Don't know much if anything about the other two. Poppinga's a former 4th rounder

And just who did you have in mind? Unfortunately, no team out there just out of the blue cut a healthy, starting All-Pro G or T.

The OL is what it is and isn't going to change until after FA and draft.

The roster's a mash unit. Brady Poppinga. He'll be getting defensive snaps on Sunday night. Hooray.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

People seem to think there are some superstar free agents out there.

Why would they sign worse?

Why not, jerry probably would.

Who exactly is out there that would help? Most of our signings are going to be guys who take ST time as ST players move into bigger roles. What OL player can do that?

The only player I know of that is available and could contribute is Holland. If Jerry was going to sign him he'd have done it a long time ago.

I would sign former Panthers offensive tackle Jeff Otah.

If nothing else, I would have several weeks to look at him as a possible long-term replacement for the vastly overpaid and under-achieving Doug Free.

It would also clearly send the message to Free that "Yes, we are looking to replace you."

At this time of the year, I'd love to see them sign a couple developmental type OL--like Colombo, Parnell. Someone either w/potential or needing a second chance. We're not going to get someone to help us at all this year, save Holland. Even then, he's not going to save us.

Obviously, you can't really do much with such an injured roster--you need all the roster spots you can get. But I think they could probably spare 1 spot for a developmental guy.
