I firmly believe it will get much worse than 8 and 8. We've got too many holes due to poor personnel decisions both in the draft and with regards to contract extensions. It's not unlike the mid/late 90's and early 2000's under Campo. The only difference is that we have a QB that hides some of those flaws and can win us multiple games and basically carry this team.
There's no way we can fix this team in the upcoming draft and we'll have limited salary cap dollars to spend because of some poor salary cap decisions (ie: extensions). We haven't hit rock bottom yet and we won't until Romo either retires or leaves. Then we're left with a personnel department that thought McGee could develop into a solid back-up, so much so that's not even in the league right now.
We can only hope that we're in the cellar for a short time, get a high draft pick and pray that there's a franchise QB we can draft similar to the Colts situation and get us back on the right path.
The NFC East is only going to get tougher. Look at the QB's in RGIII and Manning that we'll have to face twice a year. Shanahan and Coughlin are solid coaches and there's talk of the Eagles interested in Chip Kelly from the college ranks. By all accounts, he's a very bright offensive coach. Our only saving grace is that there may not be a franchise QB worthy of the #4 pick in the draft this year for the Eagles. This team needs to figure things out pretty quickly.
