Default Are Carter, Lee, and Murray busts?

I know you guys might be doing this: but hear me out.

I see a lot of posters pointing to these guys as recent draft successes, but are they really? Does it matter how talented they are if they can't get on the field? See Miles Austin.

All three of these guys came in injured and have missed significant time here. We are going to have some tough choices to make.

Lee expires at the end of next season
Carter and Murray expire at the end of the 2014 season

I realized we have to take the wait and see mentality, but there is a definite risk in drafted injured players with a ton of talent. Let's hope it works out. I would hate to lock up Lee long term only to see him turn into Miles Austin.

SERIOUSLY thought i was gonna come in here to a huge "just kidding." These are actually the 3 guys (throw Witten in) that I have no problem with. Carter and Lee will be the best ILB's (just had to deal with freak injuries) in the league next year and Murray with our dispicable line still makes things happen and has no quit in him. I have no idea why this thread was written and im the biggest pescimist here.

As far as the Austin thing...dont get me started. Waste of a roster spot. I sometimes get that this guy doesnt even like the game of football. Hes not competivie at all. Has no fire and and for his size and speed is an embarrassment on the field. Top that with the fact that almost every injury is non contact, Ive been done with this guy for 2 seasons.

By virtue of the fact they can't manage to stay healthy?? then yes they are
busts, now that may rub folks the wrong way here, but Dallas doesn't need
guys who can't go the distance during the season, they all so can not go
with out some sort of quality depth/rotation another issue where they're
all ways failing to get it done

Need to cross fingers on all three of these guys:

Lee: Been injured to one extent or another every season going back to college. Twice has had season ending injuries (once at Penn State and this year)

Carter: Two season ending injuries in the past three seasons

Murray: Season ending injury last season. Missed roughly half of the season this year.

It's easy to say these are freak injuries and that the injuries are not to the same part of the body, etc, etc..... I'd say anybody looking from the outside in would tell you there is a lot of risk associated with all three guys.

Yeah, I don't think that it is unreasonable to factor in durability when analyzing the success of a player/draft pick. Carter Murray and Lee are concerns at this point, but they have not been around long enough to be considered fully injury prone, Miles on the other hand, looks to be chronically lame in his prime.

Lee and Carter weren't steals. We got them where we got them because everyone who passed on them was worried about their injuries, which is exactly how the early part of their careers has played out.

There was never any debate about the talent. It was about the injury risk. So far it's not working out. If Lee can't stay healthy next year we need to move on from him.

Improve the Big boys up front (ecsp. the NT) and you'll see less injuries to our inside LBers.

All of them have injury concerns. None of them were busts. Some or all of them are capable of being pro bowl All-Pro players. I'm glad we have each of them.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

I'm assuming this is a joke. If so, well done.

It's dumb to call them busts, and I'm sure OP was just doing that because he wanted attention and possibly pointless posts about tacos, but the larger point is well taken.

These guys, along with Tyron and Mo should be the core of our team for the next decade. And they've shown alot of promise. I feel like if we could get them all on the field together we'd be one of the best teams in the league for the five games they could actually stay healthy. Until that happens all they are is nice players who can't be relied on to stay on the field. Not busts, but certainly not cornerstones of the team like they should be.
victory is ours

I don't consider any of the three as proven players yet.

But clearly if they stay on the field they are very good.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.
