Babe Laufenberg with GaC on ESPN 103-Dallas
Babe: - This team needs to realize that they have to score to win. Most all recent early draft picks have gone to defense.
- WR is a concern. Parcells won his 2 SB's with non-descript WR's. Difficult to do these days. This team needs WR's.
- I sed to keep an eye on Romo 2 years ago. Look at how well he is playing.
- It's not even close this year. Romo is definitely the #2 QB.
- Romo had an edge and it gets bigger with each practice.
- Henson may end up being good, but right now I don't see anything in him.
- Cooperstein broke in: I think Henson has something.
- To be fair, Henson is just about at rookie stage now. He needs time.
- Romo WILL be a starter in this league. I see a lot of Kurt Warner in him.
- Bledsoe is still capable of taking a good team to the playoffs, but not CARRYING one to the playoffs.
- If the OL doesn't protect him he will amount to nothing here.

gracias.

Despite labeling myself a "realist", no one understands my pain or appreciates my special truth. Stupid world.

I have a suggestion. Cut Bledsoe. Make Romo the starter this year. Trade Henson. Draft some real talent in the 2006 draft.

A lot of Kurt Warner while with the rams I hope. Not a lot of Kurt Warner with NY.

Babe has been living vicariously through Tony for two years.
He deserves a little second-hand success.

You're right, he's loved Romo from the start. When he first started gushing about Romo, I thought immediately of the battle lines on this board.

Is Babe watching the same league the rest of us are? What about the same drafts the Cowboys have had?
Baltimore, TB, NE WR's are/were all that?
AJ, JJ, Rogers all 2nd round picks. Witten and Peterman 3rds.
If I'm not mistaken, since BP's been here we've used 5 first day picks on O and 4 on D.
Seems like the teams with "descript" WR's keep getting their you know what's handed to them by NE (Harrison, Wayne, Stokley, TO, Ward, Burress, Randel-El).

As the old saying goes.....
"The most popular player on any football team is the guy standing behind the starter."
Romo as a starter in this league?
Come on guys.

Wow. ALready made up your mind about a player eventhough he's never been given the opportunity to play in a regular season game.
I'm sure a few people said the same things about Rich Gannon.
Let's watch the guy play a bit before we write him off. Whaddya say?

Since when is Randel-El a "Descript" WR? I mean, I agree on Burress and Ward, but Randel-El? He's nothing more then a great return man.

Bledsoe is a tuffy but I'd have Romo in a perpetual warm up all game long through out this season
|
LMAO!!!
Funny, but true. Romo's gonna throw more passes then Bledsoe this year. While Bledoe's out on the field handing it off, Romo will be on the sideline warming up. lol

Well that is only somewhat relevant here since our QB discussions mostly center on Romo vs Henson and not on the starter for the most part.

Yep. If not for us then for some other team down the road.

Key and Terry are 'nondescript' but Tony Romo isn't.
I LOVE Babe, he is the sweetest man.
But he is also a footnote at the foot of the pantheon of great Dallas quarterbacks, and I can see why he'd be tickled pink to see a Romo succeed.
Since Babe IS essentially Tony, (even the coloring and builds look similar), he knows darn well Romo has little chance of suceeding sans elite receivers. Just as he'd need them.
Enjoy, Babe. But even us armchair shrinks see where you are coming from.

My sentiments, exactly. New England, New England (again), Tampa Bay, New England (again), Baltimore, you have to go all the way back to the 1999 Rams to find a Superbowl team with a star wide receiver.
I am not the least bit worried about our receiver situation. It's all about the offensive line this year.
