Default Why would Indy select another TE
When they selected Dallas Clark in the 1st last year, and still have........Damn! Can't remember his name........... That OTHER guy!?!

I feel they could have helped their defense some more here.

It's probably because their 3rd TE is an undrafted FA who didn't make it out of training camp last year... Chad Bartoszek, who also happens to be from a nearby town.
