Default Triplets

Now what i've been hearing is that the colts triplets are supposdely better than the cowboys, are at least just as good.
But wait, how many championships have they won? How many did we win?
What are ya'll thoughts on this.

There is more to a team than just three players.

I think we need to start a board petition to convince him that spellchecker actually helps his point.

When you write like you're ten, it tends to hinder the points you're making.

Marvin Harrison, though he is a different type of receiver than Irvin, IMO is already a better receiver than Mike Irvin at this point. He has already surpased him in receptions and should overtake him in yards in a year or 2. Mike's career was cut short, but as of now, you can start talking about Harrison and Irvin in the same breath. One day, I beleive Marvin Harrison will be considered one of the all-time best. A future Hall of Famer for sure.

Peyton Manning has just as much pedigree and physical skills than Aikman does. He will have to play big in big games. He had a whole lot future pros on his team, when he was blown out by Nebraska in 97 (Wilson, Price, Goodrich, Little, Fair, Henry, Lewis (torn his acl) etc etc).

Edgerin James is not even close to Emmitt, JMO.

Advantage, Cowboys Tripplets.

It all comes down to wins, and winning the big games, not many better than our tripplets, so until those three guys in Indy have 3 rings each, theres no comparison, till then, I`ll take Troy, Emmit and Michael any time of the day.

you cant really judge by rings. how many superbowls would our triplets have won with indianapolis' defense? is tom brady a better quarterback than marino because he has 2 rings and marino has none? the argument can be made with peyton because he really blew it in that playoff game last year, but with his performance in the 2 playoff games before that i think that his meltdown as much to do with the team they played than the fact that it was a big game. i think the colts could've won it a couple years ago if dungy had a tampa bay-like defense to work with.

9 rings to 0; advantage to the REAL TRIPLETS

How many Interceptions does Troy have in NFC championship games?

So statwise, Manning maybe > than Troy, but which QB would you put your money on with the big one on the line?

Really? Dan Marino, a quarterback I didnt like personally but admire his ability didnt win any rings, but I think you can talk about him like you talk about Montana, Unitas, Elway, Staubach etc etc.

The prospects of John Elway winning a Super Bowl were very slim at the tail end of his career, and fortunately a great competitor like him was able to get 2 of them. If Elway hadnt won a Super Bowl ring, which I just pointed out could have happened, many would have still said he was one of the best to ever play the position, and righfully so.

It doesnt come down to Super Bowl Rings because you have too many factors in Football.

Take some time to look at the numbers of the 6 guys and that should give you alot of insight about what kind of player they were/was.

Again...

I would still take Aikman over Manning because I am familiar with his history of not winning the big games, which I witnessed first hand in College.

Marvin Harrison is just as good as Irvin (one of my all-time favorite players), and when it is all said and done, barring any injury, I think Harrison will be viewed as one of the best WRs ever.

I would take Emmitt Smith over Edgerin James anyday of the week.

As of now, advantage Dallas, but the players from the Colts are still playing, so the question is really not worth discussing at this point.

Anything is worth discussing. Let's look at how they stack up by number of seasons played.

Michael Irvin(8 seasons), Troy Aikman(7 seasons) and Emmitt Smith(6 seasons) had won 3 Superbowls and played in 4 NFC championship games and all most likely will be in the Hall of Fame.

Currently, Marvin Harrison(8 seasons), Peyton Manning(6 seasons) and Edgerrin James(5 seasons) have 0 Superbowls and 1 AFC championship apperance.

You can't take for granted that these guys will be playing on the same team much less will achieve the same success. At this point, none are a lock for the Hall of Fame either, but hopefully will stay healthy and continue to play well. James' play has seemed to tail off, but now he is healthy again.

As far as defense, Dallas definitley had a better defense than Indy does and it makes some difference. However, the offense showed up during the playoffs and Superbowl runs. They controlled the clock and scored lots of points against some good defenses they faced in the post-season.

Too Many Factors.

Before the age of the Salary Cap, you just had a couple of team that had alot of really good players (49ers, Dallas, Buffalo etc etc).

As of now, the league is watered down due to the Salary Cap and Expansion making the team much much more even and thus making it fairly difficult to win a Title. You rarley see teams winning back to back championships and even the Patriots missed the playoffs a year after they had won their first Title.

Mike Irvin (12 Seasons)
750 rec/11904 yards 65 TDs

Marvin Harrison (8 Seasons)
759 rec/10072 yards 83 TDs
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Troy Aikman (12 Seasons)
4715 att/2898 comp 32942 yards 165 TDs 141 Ints

Peyton Manning (6 Seasons)
3383 att /2128 comp 24885 yards 167 TDs 110 Ints

Your telling me that we cant even debate which one of these guys were better because one guy has 3 Rings and the other has 0. Again, because of the many factors in football (era, players, coaches, etc etc) Championships, in my opinion should not be the sole factor.

Again, I would still take Aikman over Manning and Emmitt over James and when it is said and done, probably Harrison over Irvin.

Last post on the subject.
