Lets say Mcfadden is taken already?
Lets say we have the #2 and Mcfadden was taken #1 overall who do we get.

We get to pick from #2 on down to the last player drafted?

Well, if you've got the #2 and the guy you really want is gone, you gotta consider trading back a bit and picking up some premium picks.
Answer for this off-season: Assemble an elite offense.

I'm going to bust up if we go D again early in one.
RIGHT NOW I'd say Calais Campbell, Laurenitis and Groves are better than any WR, RB or CB (need positions) we could take up top.

I'd pass on them all. Calais Campbell would struggle here. Does he add weight and play DE or does he transition to OLB. IMO, he's a 4-3 end. Laurenitis would be a MLB, and would be the 5th best on th team (not good for a #2 pick) and Groves would be in a similar situation (Behind Ware and Spencer, possibly Ellis).
If we had the #2 pick and McFadden was gone, I'd trade down get a #1 next year, and draft Slaton. If I couldn't trade down at all, I'd take Glenn Dorsey for NT, or Desean Jackson at WR and try to trade up for Slaton.

There are a few RBs that I would take over slaton. He's fast, but that's about it. There's lots of really fast backs in the NFL that haven't done squat. I don't see how slaton is that much better than Tyson Thompson. I'd rather have Jonathan Stewart, Mike Hart, or Ray Rice.
Jake Long would be a sweet addition. Andre Gurode, Leonard Davis, and Jake Long would make converting third and short nearly automatic.
There weill be lots of good RB's and WR's to be had with the later two of our top three picks.

I agree with this approach especially if team is sitting there with 2 #1's that wants to move up. That way you could possibly get a quality WR, RB/OL CB, with your 3 #1's and OL and DT with your 2 #2. That should address any weaknesses this team has and set us for long-term success
I know cap wise you wouldn't want to sign and then resign 3 first rd. picks in the same year but I can dream can't I.

This is unanswerable. There simply is no way to accurately project who will be a hot commodity and who will fade some a year in advance.
Hell, as good as McFadden seems to be now, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he could have a dropoff next season or that some other RB could have a great year and end up projected higher ...... much stranger things have happened.

They do have Felix Jones and he will get big numbers, but barring injury DMac won't fall off much. Certainly not out of the top 10, where we will certainly be. Unless he gets arrested for something. Even then i'm guessing with his game and Hog roots, he'd have to do something awfully egregious for Jerry to pass.

I'd draft Flo's or Henry's replacement.

Yes, if Romo is a hit and DMac is gone, and we have #2, we trade back. If Romo is a hit and DMac is taken #1, can you imagine what Brohm could be worth? Another 2nd in 2008 and another #1 in 2009 for trading just a few picks.
