Uhm..no, I'm pretty sure most people were expecting a field goal there. I guess risking a fumble is ok. Why not just take a knee? Pts weren't important for this game, but they may be important as far as tie breakers go, you never know. For someone who is touted as being prepared for everything, not thinking about tie breakers is doing a poor job, especially when the alternative (running the ball) in no way helps you out.
