Default Potential Late First Day QB

Kevin Kolb is playing right now on ESPN. He'll likely go early 3rd or somewhere abouts.

We obviously need to draft a backup.

Sorry, too late, you just missed a long bomb TD.

I thought so too, but just giving people the heads up. The other thread on college LBs is up.

Not much else to talk about right now. The 3-4/4-3 has been beaten to death this week, and I could go the rest of my life without seeing a TO thread.

i have read about how Texans fans want to him to replace David Carr. Ah how it must suck to be a Texans fan, you go from having a chance of picking between Young, Leinart, and Cutler. Instead your gonna get a guy that doesnt have the same amount of talent and accomplishments as the other 3

That escape from pressure was Romo-like.

This directional snap stuff is retarded. Kolb just saved a TD with that kick.

Kevin Kolb:

YEAR CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT
2003 220 360 3131 61.1 8.70 81 25 6 24 153.75
2004 198 353 2766 56.1 7.84 69 11 6 42 128.80
2005 254 420 3258 60.5 7.76 83 19 15 29 133.42
2006 266 393 3423 67.7 8.71 74 27 3 30 161.99

Four year starter. I would not mind taking a flyer on him, but QBs like him tend to get overvalued the closer the draft gets. Might take second or higher to get him.

I would love for the Cowboys to have a fellow U of H alumni on the team!

I should definitely be on WGs good side!!!

He's certainly got the measurables you look for in a QB. 6'3" 225, big arm, no big injuries that I can speak of, and some mobility. He's a pass first kinda QB, but he can scramble enough to keep a D honest. Got solid passing numbers as you can see from gbrittain's post.

I'm no scout, but I've seen UH play enough to believe he's a solid QB prospect, even though some would question their competition level. C-USA and all. I think the 'boys could do worse for a late first day pick.

My issue with him falls on whether he's a system QB. And I say that because Art Briles the coach for UH was also the coach at Kolb's old high school. Even though Briles had left for Texas Tech, they still ran his system at that high school and Kolb was successful at that level and was able to step right in as a true freshman to run it at UH. And his numbers grew every year, so I would say he matured as a quarterback through his years at UH.

My issue is that we have so many holes to fill I would hate using a first day pick on a QB.
