To my knowledge, Mixmakers.net is the best site to download NBA footage.

Check the Basketball clips section:
http://www.mixmakers.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15

You might have to convert them to a format compatible with ipod.

You can download videos from youtube by using www.keepvid.com
Unfortunately, they'll be downloaded as .flv files but you can convert them using the Riva FLV Encoder or another FLV converter.
