Default Tampa Bay Buccaneers Picks

Rd 1 - 004 - Gaines Adams

PositionE
Class:Sr
School:Clemson
Ht., Wt.:6-4.5, 258
40 Time:4.70

BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter awarded All-Conference honors since his junior campaign. All-America selection as a senior after posting 52/17.5/12.5 and breaking up six passes. Junior totals were 56/15/9.5, with 9.5 pass break-ups.

POSITIVES: Game-impacting defender with tremendous upside. Breaks down well, and is fast to the sidelines, creating a lot of havoc. Effectively uses his hands, rushes the edge with speed and has the ability to alter his angle of attack and pursue from the backside.

NEGATIVES: Tends to turn it on and off. Gives half-hearted efforts to shed blocks and does not always chase the action. Accused of playing as if he did not want to get hurt early in his senior campaign.

ANALYSIS: A defender who takes over games, Adams has the physical skills to be an early draft pick and an immediate starter at the next level. His motor and toughness do not match his physical skills yet he offers All-Pro potential if he.s willing to pay the price

Rd 2 - 035 - Arron Sears OT, Tennessee

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter who has played every position on the offensive line except center. All-Conference pick after his junior and senior seasons.

POSITIVES: Well-rounded and versatile blocker with starting potential at the next level. Fundamentally sound, displays better-than-average footwork and makes good use of blocking angles. Stays with the action, jolts opponents at the point and seals them from plays.

NEGATIVES: Lacks top lateral blocking range. Over-extends or lunges into blocks in pass protection.

ANALYSIS: A durable and productive collegiate lineman, Sears is a wide-bodied blocker with starting possibilities. Likely to be used inside at guard initially, yet could fill in at the left tackle position in a pinch.

Rd 2 - 064 - Sabby Piscitelli S, Oregon State

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors every year since his sophomore campaign. Senior totals were 75/5/11 after 53/4/8 the prior year.

POSITIVES: Opportunistic free safety who flashes brilliance. Displays good awareness facing the action, is fast to the flanks in coverage and gets vertical to defend the pass. Displays sideline-to-sideline range, diagnoses the action.

NEGATIVES: Not efficient, takes poor angles to the action and is not a sure-handed tackler. Occasionally blows coverage assignments in centerfield.

ANALYSIS: Offering outstanding size/speed numbers, Piscitelli has the measurables to be a first-round choice yet seems capable of much more on the field. Will generate a wide variety of opinions with most thinking he must turn up the intensity to have an NFL career.

Rd 3 - 068 - Quincy Black LB New Mexico

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors as a senior after posting a career-high 114 tackles and adding three interceptions. Junior totals included 63 tackles.

POSITIVES: Athletic linebacker with outstanding range. Fast to the flanks, gets great depth on pass drops and has a closing burst of speed to the play. Weaves through the traffic getting to the ball carrier, is physical and likes to get involved in the action.

NEGATIVES: Slowed through the trash or easily blocked from the action. Inefficient, does not take the best angles to the play and over-pursues the action on occasion.

ANALYSIS: Physically gifted, Black showed a lot of progress on the field last season. Offers potential as a weakside linebacker and may even be given some consideration as a strong safety. Needs to continually improve his game yet offers a good degree of upside.
