Could Malcolm Kelly be the next great Cowboy receiver to wear 88?

He's actually already got experience with that. Growing up, he had one of those Hutch kits, with a plastic Cowboys helmet and a Michael Irvin jersey, that he'd wear out on the street. So for the East Texas native, just the possibility of wearing the star put a smile on his face.

"It'd be cool," Kelly said. "I certainly wouldn't be mad about it."

Kelly won't work out here. He just returned to health from a quad injury, so he's not quite a full speed yet, but plans to run in Norman on March 12.

It's clear he did pass one test with flying colors. Measuring at 6-foot-3 and 224 pounds, it's clear he's plenty big for the NFL.

Kelly should be long gone by 22.

I might marry you if the draft turns out that way.

Somehow, incorporate Bruce Davis into it (ILB)....

I wouldn't be opposed to taking a flier on Tommy Blake either (for OLB)

I think he will be too.

But every year, some player slips...

I like Kelly but I think he hurt his stock really, just because he has not healed up yet and half way through his Junior year he was no where to be seen. Like I said I like Kelly and I am an OSU fan but I think he hurt his stock. If he lands to us I would be happy to get him. Right now I am looking at Bowman and Kelly are the recievers I want in this draft.

And it is usually a player that everyone says will be long gone before he is picked Brady Quinn for example. Several draft sites said he would be gone in the top 10.

I'd be really happy to get Kelly as our future at WR. I'm a big fan of his.

It's true that players fall every year, however it seems that QBs take the deeper plunges. Remember the Aaron Rodgers/Alex Smith scenario a few years ago. The 9ers weren't sure who to take with the #1 overall pick. It was a close decision and they went with Smith. Rodgers plunged all the way into the 20's (I believe) where Green Bay picked him up.

Fast forward to last year when Brady Quinn plunged to 22 after Jamarcus Russell was taken by the Raiders #1 overall.

I think it has a little bit to do with the exclusivity of the position. You can only start one QB per team. It's unique in that regard (other than punters and kickers). It just breaks down to do you need a QB or not. If you need one you, typically, take one early. If not, the pick is a luxury and the higher round picks go to team needs more often than a spare QB.

On the other hand there's always some idiot that spends a top ten pick on a guy like Ginn Jr. Some talented QBs get picked WAYYY behind many players that are colossal reaches. More often than not someone will take a WR or RB that is picked high (and rated high) then flops (Mike Williams, Cedric Benson) and good QBs watch the picks go by.

Silly, but that's just the way it goes.

The Washington Redskins.............where former Pro Bowlers go to suck.

He's my favorite receiver in this draft... Limas Sweed is my second favorite... I like the bigger receivers...

Just a bit later in the draft, I'm extremely intrigued by Andre Caldwell... and in the late rounds, my sleeper at wideout is Marcus Smith from New Mexico...

I'll give you a name at WR that we could get in the 3rd, maybe even 4th round. Keenan Burton from Kentucky. Being a UK fan, I can tell you this guy can play. He's strong and fast. Not a bad combination. Steve Johnson is another possibility. He's faster than Burton and more of a downfield receiver. I know these guys aren't considered to be in the class as some of the other receivers, but then again, we wouldn't have to spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on them either.

My guess is that Kelley will be another Michael Clayton. The measurables are there, but he doesn't seem to have that "it" factor for me that most gamebreaking WRs need to have in the NFL.

Oralndo Iglesias was the better WR this year for OU.

Kelly had 7 TDs the 1st 3 games before teams started to focus on him, and he torched a fast, athletic Miami secondary for 3 of them

I think he has it, but opinions vary
