I would also take Bo Jackson off the list. He only played four seasons and had less than 3000 rushing yards for his career. He was very dynamic and clearly could have been one of the best had he played full time and not been injured, but that is not what happened. Julius Jones has more rushing yards after four seasons. If we are talking all time steals, then I think you can find another player that was drafted as low as Bo, but was able to accomplish more.

Yeah.... I don't care what the reasoning is... if a player is drafted in the first round they're not a "steal" IMHO.
Other than that, it was a good list.

No, I never will. You want to see me in jail? Have one of my daughters fall in love with a Kicker. Somethign somewhere is going to be criminally broken.

5th round draft pick acquired from, if I remember correctly, the Mike Renfro ( WR ) trade.

Respect.

All respect Parcells earned for taking Witten and being persuaded on Romo, he loses for the horrendous 2006 draft. If not for the spectacular 2005 draft, we'd be in a lot of trouble right now.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

I think you can almost make a case for Larry Allen. He was a rather high pick, but something like 8 or 9 OLinemen were taken in front of him and when all is said and done, he'll be remembered as one of the greats at 2 positions.

+ more respect. Thanks for the reminder. But this thread is about steals.

Touche. Well formulated retort.

Looks like the ESPN archives get a little sketchy about data past 25 years old.

By that logic Terry Bradshaw was a steal as a 1st overall pick because he took the Steelers to 4 Super Bowls. Who wouldn't consider that a steal?
Meanwhile Bart Starr is left off that list and he was a legit steal. Maybe the best steal of all time.
