This may have already been discussed, ...
As I see Hambrick being released, I wondered what was the story with releasing Murrell last season.
I know he was not the long-term answer, but he was way better than Hambrick.
Does anyone know why we did not bring him back, or use him more last year ?
I am not looking for your opinion of Murrell, I am curious as to why we didn't use him since he was better than Hambrick.
I know Parcells likes options, and plays the best.
Why not Murrell ?

May have been as simple as the cap numbers for Murrell being higher since he had been in the league longer then the other RBs on the roster with the exception of maybe Anderson.
I really do not know....but that could be a reason seeing that neither were great so why pay more for about the same production.

Someone told me, and forgive me for not remembering who, that Murrell's heart was not 100% into it.

May have been hurt.
Parcells keeps such a tight lid on the media that we won't always know when a player is borderline injured.
Hambrick was apparantly running with 2 bad shoulders last year...which was the primary reason he stopped running with authority.....and I had no idea until after the season was over.
So my guess would be that Murrell got banged up. Guess is based on his age and time spent away from the game.

Yes, but he had good reason. Apparently, had he played the entire season, he would not have been eligible to apply for Medicare at the end of the year, and with the new prescription drug program just passed in Congress, who could blame him?
