I guess I will be the one to disagree with a few posts....For one, Larry's poor play had NOTHING to do with Hambrick and your thoughts he "dissed" Emmitt...
#2...Larry at 75% is nowhere near the best OG in the NFL...
He is however, paid like it!
I do hope HE can get his rich self in shape like he should have been the last 3 years and try to earn his overpaid paycheck!

I could definitely see how LA would take that personally.

I seem to remember Hambrick often passing blame to the o-line too. I think it speaks volumes that LA is working out at the Ranch immediately after his talks with Parcells and Jones. Hopefully they really have come to an understanding. Having him on our line is a serious advantage. I was seriously concerned about what would happen at the LG spot if he left. One of the best moves of the offseason may be the move we weren't able to make..

Yes he should get in shape, but he did face injuries during the past few seasons that prevented him from doing any off season conditioning.

I wonder if Hambricks release was in anyway tied to Allens return.
There was a rumor on here a while back that Allen disliked HAmbrick. The rumor made a lot of sense in light of Allens loyalty to Emmitt and THams behavior the 2 years leading up to Emmitt release.
Perhaps Allen will try harder now that he is not helping Hambrick put up yards.
(Note: I wrote this without checking the replies in the thread...did not realize this point had already been made. Oh well....great minds think alike.)

Agreed, while he will never be the same player of 5 years ago, he's still better then most.

Maybe no one as dominant (Larry was still dominant at times last year, he beat Shaun Rogers into submission), but there's a lot more out there better game in and game out ... Steve Hutchinson, for example. Randy Thomas out of Spurrier's system.

LA is working out, that is a plus. I don't think he even lifted a weight last offseason.
YOu know, he still graded out as our 2nd best OL last year. Keeping him on board kept us from going backward on the OL. Peterman should push him and provide a quality backup.
Since we are paying Allen a ton, he might as well play for us.
Herer's to hoping he works his tail off this offseason.

I did not want to start a new thread on this "will leave it up to the powers that be" but if the Cowboys Zone needs another moderator, I nominate Trickblue.

Its a win-win situation
If Allen is 80 percent of what he used to be he would be better than anyone we could bring in. Also we dont lose dead money against the cap for cutting or trading Allen, plus you dont have to use additional cap space to hire someone to take his place.

it will really put us on a faster pace to return to the top if allen comes back strong and consistent. it's one less need and it gives peterman a chance to learn unless gurode just goes in the tank. hopefully the pride that LA has will take over and motivate him back to his dominating form.

Steve Hutch, sorry IMO hes nowhere close to LA. Randy Thomas is close I guess, but hes been having a couple off years, so yet again, not him either. All of those if's and or buts made for Thomas apply to LA with Campo who isnt half the coach Spurrier was, which is pathetic.
