Default DL Draft Prospects

To me a lot of how the Cowboys move forward depends on what postion Jay Ratliff plays next year. If the plans are to move him to DE then drafting Ron Brace in the second round is a strong possibility. Also, if they draft a true NT like Ron Brace they could have a smaller ILB to play the role of Dixon Edwards in our defense. It should be interesting.
I am confident that Hatcher can step in and take Canty's role as a DE without much drop off in production. I would rather the Cowboys try and shore up the D-Line in the later rounds and free agency.

2nd Round
1. DE - Tyson Jackson - 6'4 295 - 4.89 - LSU (NDS 1-2)
+'s: Good explosion, Ability to apply QB pressure, Nice Size & Speed for 3-4
-'s: Wears down in games, Intensity
2. NT: Ron Brace 6'3 330 - 5.32 - Boston College (NDS - 2/3)
+'s: Size, Strength, Excellent Against Run,
-'s: Pass Rush, Inconsistant, Could be a two down player
3. DE - Evander Hood - 6'3 298 - 4.99 - Missouri (NDS - 2)
+'s - Athletic, Good Motor, Instincts, Leader
-'s: - Strength, Doesn't use proper leverage
3rd Round
4. DE - Jaron Gilbert 6'5 287 - 5.04 - San Jose State (NDS 3)
+'s: Good motor, Good penetration, Size
-'s: Athleticism, Lacks Top End Speed
5. Fili Moala - 6'4 303 - 5.14 - Southern Cal - (NDS 2/3)
+'s: Plays well against run, Instintive, Size,
-'s: Not the most athletic, Consistency
6. DE/DT - Alex Magee 6'3 295 - 4.94 - Purdue (NDS 3)
+'s: Great measurables, Versatility
-'s: Inconsistant, Struggles with double teams,
7. DE - Mitch King 6'2 275 - 4.75 - Iowa (NDS 2/3)
+'s: High Motor, Hands, Speed, Athletic, Physical
-'s: Size, Unsure what position to play

4th Round
8. DE/DT - Dorrell Scott 6'4 310 - 5.02 - Clemson (NDS 4): Needs to bulk up to play NT. But has a good combo of size & speed. Can be inconsistent. Needs to work on pass rush skills
9. DT - Ricky Jean-Francois 6'3 290 - LSU (NDS 3-4): Very athletic and talented was projected as a first round talent if he stayed in the draft. Had acdemic problems, which is why he declared for the draft. Could rise if he performs well in the combine. A better fit in the 4-3 defense, but could be a good value pick if he drops to the 4th or 5th round.
10. DT - Vance Walker - 6'2 295 - 5.02 - Georgia Tech (NDS 4) Good bull rush, doesn't have the size to play NT in 3-4.

5th Round
11. NT - Sammie Lee Hill 6'4 331 - 5.20 - Stillman (NDS 6) - Very athletic and good feet, plays basketball. Has the size to play NT in the NFL. Level of compitition is a cause for concern.
12. NT - Terrance Taylor 6'1 314 - 5.18 - Michigan (NDS 5): Is projected as being a NT candidate. Is good at stopping the run. Had a dissappointing year.
13. NT - Chris Baker 6'2 310 - 5.08 - Hampton (NDS 5)
14. DT/DE - Corvey Irvin 6'3 296 - 5.06 - Georgia (NDS 4-5)
15. DT/DE - Clinton McDonald 6'2 289 - 4.76 (NDS 5)

6th Round
16. Ra'Shon Harris 6'4 300 - 5.09 - Oregon (NDS 6) - Has the size to be effective in a 3-4 as DE. Likley a rotational player as he wears down during games. Not much for pass rush skills.
17. Khalif Mitchell 6'5 316 - 4.95 - East Carolina (NDS 7)
18. Kyle Moore 6'5 265 - 4.87 - Southern California (NDS 5) - Better fit in 4-3 defense.
19. Nader Abdallah 6'4 295 - 5.12 - Ohio State (NDS 6-7)

7th Round
20. Demonte Bolden 6'4 281 - 4.98 - Tennesse (NDS 7) - Has the size and speed to play DE in 3-4. Not great in any one area.
21. Will Johnson 6'4 280 - 4.83 - Michigan (NDS 7) - Would be best suited as a DE in 3-4. Limited upside, potential is as a rotational player. Has a good motor and is a leader
22. Darrell Richard 6'3 306 - 4.99 - Georgia Tech (NDS 7) - Hard working player who is a good teammate. Low upside. Strong against the run.
23. Myron Pryor 6' 310 - 5.08 - Kentucky - (NDS UDFA) Has the size and speed to play but has a questionable heart.
24. Rulon Davis - 6'5 275 - 4.97 - California (NDS 7)
25. Zach Potter 6'7 277 - 4.98 - Nebraska (NDS UDFA)
26. Jeremy Navarre 6'3 285 - 4.97 - Maryland (NDS - 7)
27. Doug Worthington 6'6 275 - 4.78 - Ohio State (NDS 7) - Has great size speed combo but doesn't make enough plays. If he dedicated himself he could become a starter, so there is upside. Pleaded guilty to a drunk driving charge so there is character concerns.
28. Louis Ellis 6'2 315 - 5.10 - Shaw - (NDS UDFA) -
29. Antonio Dixon 6'3 324 - 5.17 - Miami (NDS UDFA)
30. Everette Pedescleaux 6'6 305 - 4.97 - Northern Iowa (NDS UDFA) - Has great size speed combo that you would want in a 3-4 DE. Level of competition is a cause for concern.
31. Jeff Schweiger 6'5 276 4.80 - San Jose State (NDS UDFA) - Good size speed combo injury problems. But might be worth a late round draft pick.
32. Josh Hunt 6'5 295 - 5.12 - Eastern Michigan (NDS UDFA)
33. Jervonte Jackson 6'4 300 - 5.12 - Florida Atlantic (NDS UDFA)
34. Adrian Grady 6'1 290 - 5.12 - Louisville (NDS UDFA) - Good athleticism, instincts and agility. Might be too small to play NT and not tall enough to play DE in a 3-4 defense.
35. Eric Mikolajchak - 6'3 320 - 5.67 - Sam Houston State (NDS UDFA) - Likely an undrafted FA but has an interesting size. He lettered in baseball and basketball.
36. Roy Miller 6'1 301 - 5.06 - Texas (NDS 7) - Unless he adds more bulk he is likely a 4-3 player.

I did not put Sen'derrick Marks in because I believe he'll be long gone before the Cowboys would have him valued for. He's not a true NT and would be better in a 4-3 imo.

Thanks for posting this. I just realise that if Seattle takes Crabtree with their 1st rd pick they will for sure take Brace in the 2nd because its so high on their list. Mcshay has Seattle taking Raji in the 1st but I doubt they pass on Crabtree.

Church is in session

I like Samie Lee Hill and Terrance Taylor in the 5th. Taylor seems like a try hard guy to me. He hustles.

There is a guy from Temple that is 6-3 324 or in that range. He's a 7th round prospect.

I like Sammie Lee Hill and Roy Miller. I am sorry but anyone who drops Roy all the way to the 7th cause he isn't 320, is a damn fool. The kid is quite simply a guard dog. You dont go into his yard without getting bit. Roy Miller is everything I wish Frank Okam would have been.
