Why even say "if we are unable to do anything else", thats like saying unless every other viable option that exists in reality is gone, then lets take a look.
It simply is a meaningless statement on the subect, you probably are aware there are several FS available younger and better.

Several, really?
Please fill me in because I only know of one, maybe two.
Dwight Smith, and Kennoy Kennedy (who is nothing special)
And one wants to play CB. The other is really a SS.
I really would like to know all the FA Free Safties available who can actually play the position?
That is why I said if we can do nothing else, because there are so few options.
If there are several available though like you say, I easily could change my stance.

Some basic research indicates there are plenty of safties in general, who could move freely from SS to FS and back and plenty of younger options at Free saftey.
Enjoy the link of around 30 or so safties both SS and FS that are RFA or UFA that are viable options...Enoy
http://proxy.espn.go.com/nfl/fa?positionId=36
Never Mind Will Demps or Idrees Bashir
Dwight Smith was a Cb to SS then to Fs

You are not showing me anything I have not seen.
Just because there is a list of names does not mean there are many options worth pursuing.
Demps would not be bad, but he is Restricted, which makes it very tough to get him.
Sorry man, but Bashir is a lousy Saftey from what I have seen. Not impressed at all.
Like I said in my thread Dwight Smith would be nice.
I forgot about Freeman who could be a decent player for us.
That is about it, along with maybe Kennedy.
But, I am curious to know the 30 you think are viable options?
I have it at about 3, and really they are questionable except Smith, but then he is talking about CB $.
Honestly this is a very weak FA Saftey year.
So I guess that is where the difference in our thinking is.
I see 3 options I would consider worth pursuing, you have 30.

Sorry, but you asked for options..I said there were around 30 safties...your opinion is meaningless to me as your evaluation.
Robert G or Dwight Smith (CB, SS) are not the best or only options.
Demps, Freeman, Bashir (who cares if you like him), Sharper and several others on this ESPN list of safties could provide FS help.
We may also draft one for depth and the future but we need a veteran, it need not be the most expensive player. Just a solid cover Saftey that can assist Roy and the corners.
So your evaluation is immaterial, you asked for more viable options, I just named them , you just do not like the options...but unfortunately for you, your answer is a overpriced Smith or washed up Robert G.
No Thanks

Dude, are you getting upset or something? You are making no sense here, and honestly I think you are responding without even reading my replies.
No, I asked for options that can actually play.
And, no you you did not say there where around 30 safties, you said 30 viable safties. Big difference there.
It is nice to know my opinion is meaningless to you. No problem,, but really all opinions are meaningless, but that is why we are all here. To give our opinions. If it was meaningless to you, then don't respond.
I am with you on Sharper, but I will wait to see if he is released.
And no my answer was not Smith or a washed up Robert G.
I mentioned Dwight Smith, yes.
But, I also said Freeman could be a good fit, as well as Kennedy.
I also told you I like Demps, but just think it will be very difficult to obtain him. Restricted players seldom get moved if they are any good, unless the aquiring team overpays.
Those are the options I see. If none of them pan out I have no problem bringing in R. Griffith.
But like I said in the original post, if......
But, why am I telling you, my opinion is meaningless, but if you are going to tell me what I said, at least get it right.

I was unaware Knight was a UFA...I kinda like him, not a superstar, but can play well.

There are 30 some safties and out of which some are viable options...read more carefully. I never said there were 30 safties that would do to fill this particular need rather 30 safties in general of which there are viable options at FS, more than one or two.
No, you just like to argue, but with no basis here, because you argued Robert G was a "viable" option if your self proposed one other saftey do not work out.
Others stated the obvious, Robert G is washed up and old. End of discussion and not on the table for our team,, there are plenty of other options...yes Viable ones.
You are the only one arguing this nonesense on Robert G..you stuck your neck out, now at all costs you feel you need to defend it!!
The point is there is available several other options:
Will Demps (RFA Or not)
Indrees Bashir
Darren Sharper (Will be released)
Dexter Jackson
Chris Hope
Kennoy Kennedy
Arturo Freeman (released)
That is just a few on this list that are viable options as opposed to a overpriced SS in Dwight and a crusty player in Robert G.
Give up on this one...you are simply wrong here and this "tiny" list proves as much. Any of these guys are better than Robert G...Sorry!!

You said,
Enjoy the link of around 30 or so safties both SS and FS that are RFA or UFA that are viable options...Enoy
I apologize if I read this wrong, but it seemed pretty clear to me, still does.
Regardless thanks for the clarification.
Just so you know, no I do not like to just argue. Never have. You got me all wrong. Thanks for making the assumption though.
No I do not feel I have to defend anything at all costs.
I simply was looking for a list of better options. That is all.
Gee Wiz.
As I have said more than once during this whole thread I would look at Griffith if all other options failed.
I was just interested in seeing what others, including yourself thought were better options.
After all of this you finally gave me your options.
Thank you!
There is nothing for me to give up on.
I still stand by what I said, and I am not trying to argue it.
Just making sure if you are going to tell me what I said, you are doing it accurately.
Which you are still getting it wrong.
Regardless, the only thing I wanted was who you saw as better options. Thank you for finally giving it to me.
Really, that was all.
Some of those guys you listed, we are on the same page.
Others I will not bother to talk about, because after all as you stated my opinion means nothing to you.
Fair enough!
Hopefully we will have a better dialogue next time.

This is not the riot act...the point is simply that you only intimated that their were only one or two options which in turn grounds your argument for a washed up Robert G ...this was your language not mine.
I simply pointed out that there were plenty of other options, out of a list of 30 or so safties...yes ...you literalized my statement which obviously was not intended because many on the list were only SS and could not really switch as others might and/or were not suitable.
In addition, there are plenty of true FS that are younger and a better fit than DS or RG. That underminds your argument for Robert G as a last resort because their are plenty of veteran FS that could fill this need outside of a few??? and thus an appeal to Robert G is senseless.
This in sum was my counter argument that is sound and exposes your major and minor premise as not corresponding to reality and if you were honest you would simply say...yes...there are other guys out their that can better fill this need in FA.
We can still dialogue without a problem, and I think the entire point was ALL there is for the most part is better options than Robert G.

Cowboys | Interested in Griffith? - from www.KFFL.com
Tue, 1 Mar 2005 11:21:16 -0800
Mary Kay Cabot, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports the Dallas Cowboys could show interest in free agent S Robert Griffith (Browns), who was recently cut by the Cleveland Browns.
Calm down, I realize this is not saying anything really. That we could be interested. Of course we could. We could also be interested in signing L. Tomlinson... doesn't mean we will. Just posting it.
