They said "NOW with Dat and a second on the table for Howard" so is he on the block or not?????????
The impression I got was that Dat was never on the table to begin with.

The Saints said: "How bout putiing Dat on the table?"

The Cowboys said: "No."

One team asking and the other rejecting doesn't make it a trade option, which this apparently never was.

Ok, yeah, I guess BP and Carthon are one of the biggest liars, since they denied they had a fight. No wonder all his former players don't trust BP

No thanks -
exactly my take.

if u r paying free agent money then giving up much in picks or players is begging for trouble.
But I still don't know what any team saw Thursday night that would have made them comfortable with waiting a round or two for the offensive lineman they wanted. ---Todd McShay
We just converted half our LB to DL. We have a 30m starting DL, it better be pretty friggin good.

I think the Cowboys paused and scratched their head, then said "No."

I wouldn't believe a word he says. Parcells, just 2 weeks ago, was talking about how much he missed Mo but was glad he had an opportunity to "spread his wings." He knew Mo needed a chance to do something on another team. Now either Parcells was lying thru his teeth (altho why he would talk about Mo at all, unless this was a genuine feeling, is a mystery) or Newey tends to grasp at straws. And how would players know what went down between Mo & BP?

I agree, If Bill and Mo had a falling out the most you would get out of Parcells is "No Comment"

He's 240 pounds, or close to it.

Are you talking about height?

That's like wanting a tall running back. Height is overrated for several positions and MLB is one of those.

I went on record earlier as saying I thought the deal would still get done but that it would be for Dat and not a 2nd round pick. I will amend that in light of recent events and say the deal is for Dat and a 5th round pick either this year or next.

Remember...YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST!

I would really like for this deal to get done, but I obviously want the Cowboys to get the best deal possible.

I think Dat, the player, is replaceable. You can find MLBs willing to hit and make tackles. What would be missed, in my opinion, is the leadership and intangibles. I honestly think that's what the Cowboys are more worried about.

Out of curiosity, why do you think the deal will be centered around Dat instead of a pick, Dave?

I think Dat will be part of the deal because...

1 - He does not fit the mold of what BP wants in a LB (productivity aside).
2 - We have at least 2 LB's that ARE more in that mold (James, Singleton)
3 - NO wants Dat.
4 - Pick #11 has a good shot at DJ or Merriman.
5 - Dat's value is relatively high right now so strike while hot.

That's basically it. I think JJ and BP are trying to "freeze" NO right now with the deadline looming on the Franchise tag for NO. However, they will add a low round pick to the deal to "play nice". Notice we don't trade with Minny these days after we ripped them wide open on the Herschel trade. Giving them Dat AND a draft pick (even a low one next year) allows NO to save face.

I really do think this will be done by tomorrow - Dat and a low round pick (prolly a 5th).

I like your thoughts on this. Makes a lot of sense.
