Thornton's major problem, and he showed this in camp, was a lack of confidence while playing. Not sure you want him playing centerfield. He was a reach in the 4th round anyways.

For the record, Hunter played the first 3 games of the season and the preseason....in those three games, despite being thrown at continually, he made 6 total tackles and defensed "0" passes...he did make 1 INT that everyone should remember...he was 5 yards away from the guy he was supposed to be covering and the ball was tipped and fell right into his stomach.

Yes, it was only the preseason and 3 games, but Hunter did NOT distinguish himself.

I may be remembering wrong, but didn't the coaches say back in 2003 that Hunter wasn't cut out to be a slot cover guy?

It seems like I remember him getting burned from the slot a lot, even though we ended up with the #1 ranked D. It seems like they said he'd be better out as one of the starting CB's because he didn't have the quickness to cover the smaller, quicker slot recievers.

If they did say that, then you'd have to think they like Frazier much better as our 3rd CB (I know I do)... even before you bring up Hunter's knee injury.

That's not going to turn into a lot of playing time for a guy who has some athletic ability and straight line speed. However, at FS he could compete for a whole lot of playing time, and his rangy, athleticism would be a good fit.

He may not be a big hitter, but geez, tackling isn't that hard... it's something they've done since pop warner. He ought to be able to get a guy on the ground.

My only question is, does he have what it takes between his ears? From what I've read from scouts and coaches, FS is much more of a thinking man's position than corner, where you pretty much just use your ability without a lot of thinking.
