Default No Roids in Football

There are no steroids in the NFL.

Evolution is the only reason linemen are now 100 lbs larger and receivers are 1-2 seconds faster than 30 years ago

There is steroids in the NFL , As you assume , but i dont think its on high of level as in baseball. The Nfl does constant weight training and , dietary training to make its players suited for there positions.

Before I began lifting weights , I weighed 180 pounds , this was at the age of 18, from 18 to my current age now 23 i weigh 210. I havent used steroids once in that time, ive been taking protein supplements and eating a good heathly diet. and gained 30 pounds of muscle. It is possiable to gain mass amount of muscle with out the use of steroids. espically when your still growing . Science says that a person has the best potential for muscle growth from the ages of 21-26.I would be skeptical of the players who put on there most muscle mass after the age of 26. Players like bonds, sosa, mcquire etc.

They could of course be innocent, maybe there training regime and diet was superb who knows.

my point is Dont accuse the players of the Nfl today of using steroids on a large scale, with improved weight training knowledge and excercise's combined with the new knolwedge of a proper athlete's diet these gains can be made with out steroids.

NFL rechecking players' drug tests
Associated Press

NEW YORK -- The NFL is rechecking players' drug tests to look for the newly identified steroid THG.

The steroid, at the center of an investigation by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, previously was undetectable. But USADA received a used syringe containing the designer steroid from an anonymous coach and then began retesting samples of track and field athletes.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Saturday that "as soon as the report came out about THG, we said we would be testing for it and we are."

That includes previously taken urine samples that were tested by the league for other drugs.

An NFL player testing positive for steroids receives a four-game suspension for the first offense.

Olympic and pro athletes have been subpoenaed by a federal grand jury probing a California laboratory that provides nutritional supplements to athletes.

Victor Conte, whose Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative was raided in early September by agents of the Internal Revenue Service and a San Mateo County narcotics task force, said in an e-mail to The Associated Press he was told by athletes that 40 of them have been called to testify.

The scope of the grand jury's probe is not known.

Steroids are rampant in pro football.
We actually see a number of guys get caught and even 2nd and 3rd time offenders who spend 4 weeks on ice or more such as Julius Peppers, Bill Romanowski, Barret Robbins et al.

The clear and the cream were also given to bay area football players.

30 pounds of muscle in 4-5 years between 18 and 22/3 is about right for a hardcore natural trainer with creatine and high protein diet. 100 pounds of muscle between 18 and 24 is NOT. Or even 50 pounds between 21 and 25.

Football players do an insane amount of cardio and I can testify firsthand that it is much easier to put on weight when you stop playing football. Thats why guys usually have playing weights 10+ pounds below their listed or combine weight.
But I still don't know what any team saw Thursday night that would have made them comfortable with waiting a round or two for the offensive lineman they wanted. ---Todd McShay
We just converted half our LB to DL. We have a 30m starting DL, it better be pretty friggin good.

If you watched Playmakers you saw how the testing is done.
They grab ahandful of guys at like 4 predetermined times and test everyone once at the start of camp otherwise.

Mark Stepnoski admits he smoked pot his entire career yet never failed a drug test. Michael Irvin never failed a drug test. Tuinei never failed a drug test. Neither did Nicky Sualua. The guys that have been caught seem to generally have other issues that prevent them from simply beating the test.

To assume these guys are simply not using because they are getting tested would be extremely naive.

With the $ involved, like THG and Balco, there are players/trainers 1 step ahead of the curve. THG basically was only tested at the tail end of 2003.....

Look at Boston, Springs, Peppers - these players are beating the system. Some actually do get caught.

The only difference I see between football and baseball is that football at least ATTEMPTS to address the issue, instead of skirting it. Testing (though it could be better) is at least present in football.

Baseball has just been ignoring the problem...

Yeah of course just look at Nate Newton.....

I don't know about baseball, but IMO there is not space left when you look at the misuse of any kind of doping in the NFL. And steroids is the smallest part of it. When people talk about doping they always start with steroids but believe me this is like talking about drinking two beers a day and comparing this to the AAs.
Stay positive. Stay focused. Keep smiling.
After all it's a process.

The comment there is no Roids in the NFL is just ignorant.......To suggest that all players are clean or dirty can't be made....Unless you know every single player and there habbits. Also with the Carolina panters being investigated in Carolina for just this problem of 10 current and former players just totally undermines your statement....Does it mean they did no but normally where there is smoke there is fire......

Baseball damn near killed themselves with the work stoppages and needed the homerun hitting era to get back on it's feet and it worked. Now they'll have to pay the price, if any.
You can't spell bias without BS.

There's steroids in high school. I'd even make the argument that 8th graders may be indulging recreationally in steroids.

With the advent of the internet, a physique is only a click away.
