Don't believe me? Ask Vonnie Holliday sometime. You know, that guy Green Bay used to claim trumped Greg..

If we are content with a DL of Ellis types, then fine....but if the issue, as most posters have suggested for years, is pass rushing, then to me I'd give up a #1 pick to get a proven pass rusher, not a ? or potential pass rusher.

I think Greg Ellis is a good, decent DE, but he's not an elite or even above average pass rusher. And you're right, there aren't that many better because there aren't many elite pass rushers.

My point in bringing up Ellis was that he was a #8 pick and most people would trade him for an elite pass rusher like Freeny, Haley, anyone who gets 12 sacks every year and more importantly pressures the QB regularly. NO, that's not going to happen.

However, my leap was to suggest that surely then we'd give up a #1 draft pick at 25 or lower for a guy like Howard who actually got 11 sacks last year without even playing a full schedule.

Like everyone else, I hope we can get him for a 3rd or 4th or an extra part, but you don't get quality DE's for that...it doesn't happen.
