Default if there is smoke, maybe??????

Dallas Cowboys Updated:06/02/2004
The Washington Post reports that the Cowboys are interested in disgruntled Packers cornerback Mike McKenzie, but wouldn't give up anything more than a second-round pick in exchange. Green Bay is demanding a first-round pick for McKenzie's services. ... The Cowboys are expected to be the leading candidate to nab quarterback Vinny Testaverde, who was released by the Jets on Tuesday. The Dallas Morning News reports that Testaverde still believes he can start and wants to do so wherever he goes. He has a close relationship with Bill Parcells, who is looking to add depth at that position.

We shouldn't give up anything more than a 2nd round pick. Ideally I would like to send them a 3rd but we don't have one in next year's draft.

Mickey said on The Ticket this morning that GB is willing to take a 2 but have had zero takers in the entire league...

I wouldn't part with a 2... maybe a 3 in 2006... but no more...

I think McKenzie is a much safer bet than any corner you would draft in the second round next year. Sure, you might stumble on someone great, but odds are you won't. He is a proven starter. You can't count on that from someone you'd be picking in the later part of the second round. And you especially can't count on that person to be an IMMEDIATE contributor the way you could count on McKenz.

The only thing keeping the Cowboys from making that move (a #2 for McKenzie) would be if they REALLY think Hunter has what it takes. If they don't make a move, that's what has to be going on.

I'd go for a second if their 7th was involved, then we could pick up more special teams players, lol.

We don't have a third and if we give up our second, we lose any flexibility to move up for a player in next year's draft.

They showed interest in Hutchinson, I'd try Hutch and our 4th.

I agree with trickblue. A third in 2006 is probably the most I would consider giving up for this guy. No way would I give up a 2.

And on the Trung Canidate rumor: I laughed when the Rams picked him in the first round and I laughed even harder when the Rams fleeced Washington in that trade. I have no idea what Parcells could possibly see in him.

Since our 3rd rounder was already given up for Henson, there's no way I'd give up our 2nd rounder for him. Since GB has been shopping him, so far, they haven't had any takers.

No way I give up our #2 next year or even in 2006. Package something up with a later pick and a player or a 3rd in 2006 and a 5th in 2005. Those 1st and 2nd rounders are hard to come by because I know how much I miss then when we don't have one! Again I mention Ty Law in a McKenzie post. That changes things to have another CB to consider instead of being stuck in a position of wanting a CB and only 1 on the market.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

You can never have too many 7th round picks.

To say I'd give a 3rd in 2006 you may as well say I don't want the guy. I just don't see GB taking an offer like that when they initially was looking for a 1st rd pick. Most I would give up would be a 2nd because with the 2 1st round picks we have Dallas could easily take a player with the highest of the 1st rd selection and trade the 2nd 1st rd pick for multiple picks.

True but we would at least be 1 player closer.

One thing about Mike is that he has good experence against both Moss and now were going to see TO twice a year...He has decent size...

I don't think GB would do the deal for a 3rd from anyteam...I do agree with Danny White that this will tell what they really think of Hunter...

As far as Trung goes...I thought he looked very good for Wash. early...before he was hurt...

I think he would make a great change of pace & 3rd down back...On our turf he would be dangerous with his speed!

Better then any other option we have as a RB in the passing game now. (No sure what J.Jones will be?)
