Hunter re-signed
Hunter signs one-year contract 04:28 PM CDT on Thursday, April 21, 2005
By MATT MOSLEY / DallasNews.com
The Cowboys re-signed restricted free-agent cornerback Pete Hunter to a one-year contract Thursday. Hunter, who started three games at cornerback in 2004 before a season-ending knee injury, has asked to be traded.
The Cowboys would like for Hunter to consider a move to safety, but at least for now, he's not interested.
"I've spent my whole career learning how to play cornerback," Hunter said Tuesday. "I'm not a safety."
With Hunter's signing, offensive tackle Kurt Vollers is the only remaining restricted free agent who hasn't re-signed. Quarterback Tony Romo is the only unsigned exclusive rights free agent.

Dallas must have found a taker. They had to sign him before the could trade him right?

His attitude is just disgusting. I hope he gets traded to the Redskins.

I honestly hoped that the team would give him permission to seek a trade. At that point, I think he would have had an opportunity to actually see what his value in the league was. IMHO, this might have made him realize that a starting gig at Safety, in the NFL, is not such a terrible thing after all.

sounds like trade fodder...could involve draft picks, either ours or someone else's
Still left to accomplish:
sign OT Winston or G Moore

Just follow the money. If Hunter will make more money at CB during the course of his career then his agent stands benefit as well.
I don't see this as being any different than a college player wanting to transfer to another school to play a position that they prefer playing.

Does this guy even know that there are only ~ 60 starting positions in the entire NFL for cb or safety and he thinks that he's great enought to be one of them?
Reality check, he lucky that he wasn't re-signed for the starting waterboy position.

I totally agree. That's exactly what's behind this but having said that, I honestly can't think of one team that he could sign with and get starts money. I mean, anywhere he goes, he's going to be a 3rd string CB, at best. However, if he were to agree to play safety for us for a season or two, I would bet that Jerruh would work on his contract to make him worth the position. Not sure what starting FS make in this league but I'd be it's more then 4th string CBs. Just a guess, of course.

I don't want him going to the Skins. He has talent and will be a good CB if he can stay healthy and I'd rather not face himtwice per year. I don't like his attitude about playing safety but that doesn't change the fact that if he can get over the injury bug he will be a player.
