And yet with all this woulda, coulda, shoulda, we scored about 18 points per contest.
That ain't gonna get it, boys. No matter how you replay the season.

Sacks and turnovers would have made a far larger difference than even if our defense reverted to '03 form. I'd say the Saints, both Giants and maybe the second Philly game were winnable with our '03 defense, but even with that defense we wouldn't have had a chance against Minnesota.
Bend/don't break just prolongs losing with an average offense. With an offense like ours, you need to create turnovers to build confidence.
We desperately need playmakers in the redzone and better kicking. Maybe our new RB has the low center of gravity to grind out those tough yards. This is one aspect of his game I'd like to see Witten kick up a notch. He's shown that he can learn new things before; here's to hoping Ben Coates comes back and teaches him again!

Week 1 - Minnesota 35 | Dallas 17 = Defense
Week 5 - NY Giants 26 | Dallas 10 = Both O & D were pitiful
Week 6 - Pittsburgh 24 | Dallas 20 = Defense didn't hold Pittsburgh in final minutes.
Week 7 - Green Bay 41 | Dallas 20 = Defense
Week 9 - Cincinatti 26 | Dallas 3 = VT - 3 ints & fumble.
Week 10 - Philadelphia 49 | Dallas 21 = Defense (Phi had drives of 59, 77, 68, 75, 88 & 84 yards) - VT had 2 ints that hurt, but our D was outclassed.
Week 11 - Baltimore 30 | Dallas 10 = VT - 2 ints in second half, no drive over 7 plays in first half.
[View Full Quote]Week 14 - New Orleans 27 | Dallas 13 = VT/O & D were pitiful late
Week 15 - Philadelphia 12 | Dallas 7 = VT - 2 ints
Week 17 - NY Giants 28 | Dallas 24 = Defense for making Eli look like a pro-bowler.
SUMMARY:
Looks like out of 10 losses there are 5 that you can say the defense lost for us, 3 that VT lost for us and 2 where it was the entire O and D that stunk up the joint.

agreed except Pitts game. O blew it for us bIG time, given steelers ball in scoring position with 2 min or so left. my brothers are both steelers fans and they would not pick up the phone the entire game, as soon as VT fumbles and they score my phone is ringing off the hook and their all drunk and screaming how great Pittsburgh played, that was the low point of last season for me.

Drew Bledsoe, Tee Hee Hee. He had a 2nd ranked defense, good receivers and 2 good running backs and still couldn't get his team to the playoffs. He was the weakest link, that's why they let him go and chose to go with qb who threw no more passes than Henson. That's why he's here in the first place. We'd do better by signing Jeff Blake or making a trade for Chris Simms.

Enough to know that 6 of Buffalo's loses were to teams with winning records and 6 of their wins were over teams with losing records and even in beating Cleveland, Bledsoes' qb rating was .52 and in beating Seattle, his rating was .65 and as for him being an upgrade to Vinny, Vinny passed for 600 more yards and had a higher completion percentage despite the fact that Jujones was hurt for half the season,ie. no running game and that both Keyshawn and Terry Glenn were not healthy most of the season. All things considered, Vinny played relatively well, so now basically another year and we've taken another step back in qb play. I hope those new defensive players play well early, because we're headed back into CHUTCH land offensively. And if you don't believe me, take a look at the new Chargers,Cardinals,Panthers, etc. defenses.

If you knew anything about Buffalo's schemes though, is that they rely on a more mobile QB. There's alot more roll out outs and that sort of thing. Bledsoe wasn't really a great fit for the new regime there. He'll do just fine for us, watch
See Dis! I got boalls! Fahgettaboutit!
