Going to Cowboys vs,. Jax game
My son and I will be making our 2nd annual trip from upstate NY to TX next week. Flying in Thursday am and going to Austin for a few days. We've got tickets for the Longhorns-Baylor game on Saturday and driving up to Arlington after the game and have tickets for the Cowboys-Jags game on Sunday. Staying in Arlington at the Courtyard Marriott near the Stadium on Nolan Ryan Expressway. Anyone have any suggestions for a good sports bar in that area to watch the Saturday night college games and the late NFL games on Sunday?
Thanks.

I haven't lived in DFW for quite a while now and I'm sure the area has grown with the stadium being built, but I used to go to Bobby Valentine's which was a sports bar across 360 from the Ranger's Ball Park...
If it's still there it was a good place...

My wife and I going to the same game. Going down Friday night. We will be
at the Sleep In at Arlington. There is a good sports bar called Humperdinks,
right in the same parking lot of the Sleep in. Humperdinks is like a TGIF on
steroids, you should check it out, also in the same area, there is a Texas
Land and Cattle. They have good steaks. Traildust Steakhouse is another
cool place in the area. Hope you have a great time and we come home with a
victory.

Hooter's.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Hey Brickman, it's the dude who always writes you from Dallas about what to do and where to go .. hope I'm not too pushy ...
First off, you might want to go see the "World Series" next weekend in Arlington (fingers crossed .... ... tickets might not be too bad, online sites. ... TCU is out of town that weekend too bad .. SMU not sure.
Yup, Humperdinks on Six Flags Drive, big chain sports bar, if it's the same as the other places in the area, big place - good reasonably priced eats - good atmosphere - big loud bar to watch the game. ... I see they don't have the restaurant chain known as Hooters in your state.. it's a smaller sports bar (sorta - brighter lights than a sports bar, more restaurant atmosphere really) with girls with big honkers as waitresses. Not as lavish/big/loud place as Humperdinks though, but if you want to see Texas talent close up, Hooters is a good place as the best lookers get hired here first. Another poster talked about Traildust, I've not been. Texas Land & Cattle is a good cheap steakhouse chain, light on your pocketbook but good cheaper "choice" steaks and two sides/salad/rolls included for $15-20 or so, a sports-bar atmosphere with TVs on probably . ... I wish UT-Arlington still had a football program - maybe in a few years.
Between here and Austin, if you are on I-35, not many folks stop in Temple/Belton area. I read that Jalisco's in Belton is good. I think there's a good Mex place downtown in Temple - I can't remember the name. Fun to get off the interstate and then you will see real "cowboys" - hard bitten guys that work at ranches with real cowboys hats on, just wanting a chicken fried steak, beer and some Hank Williams on the jukebox on a Friday night :-). Remember Carl's Corner (near Dallas) and the Czech Stop (near Waco) as good places to stretch anyway.
Sorry Brickman your boys and Longhorns in an off year, but you'll have fun I'm sure. It's an awful warm fall here so far, so bring some t-shirts. And take a dip in Barton Springs.

Because they put an owl on the front of the building.

Maybe we will just stay in a sports bar and drink and forget about going to the games. Depressed beyond belief. I get to see my beloved Cowboys with Jon Kitna running the show. Can't wait!!!
