Spears/Hill
I notice there are alot of simularities between Marquise Hill and Spears.
Both D-ends from LSU.Hill 6-5 300 pounder.Spears 6-4 300 pounder.
according to Sporting News Draft Guide they both run bout a 5.00 forty.
Has anyone seem them play and if so are they the same players? If not what are the differences.
I think Hill went somewhere in the middle of round 2. So another question if Spears and Hill were in the draft the same year would they have been picked closer together than they ended up being choosen.
Is Spears that much better than Hill. I hope so.I havent seen alot of LSU games.

Spears is a lot better than Marquise Hill. He's much more of a physical presence and a playmaker, not to mention a leader on the field.
I think Marquise Hill would have improved a lot if he had stayed at LSU for his senior year, so it would have been interesting to see where he would have gone.
Also... I think I remember hearing that Marquise Hill was not a very hard-worker in practice. Not sure if that's true or not though.

Thanx Amy. I was just reading and found it interesting how similar the two appeared.
Then I remembered last year before the draft I was Hyped bout Hill and then this year the same for Spears.
Buying my yearly jerseys for my Brothers kids will be Spears because I really think he stands for a good guy and you just dont see that in todays athletes often.

I don't think Hill has nearly the quickness that Spears has, does he?
Spears is quite an athlete for his size... I think he'd have run much better than a 5.0 if his knee had been 100%.

TunaHelper (LSU season ticket holder), scottsp, and I were all very high on Marcus Spears for the 2004 draft. I was a bit bummed when he opted to go back to school. He already stood out that much to me.
Marquis Hill has Bi-Polar disorder according to some pre-draft reports last year. Very good player but I am sure that was why he did not make the 1st round of the draft with his size.
Of the two, not a doubt in my mind that Spears is far and away the better player. He's much tougher against the run and is quicker off the line. He also has a very good bull rush.
IMO there is a much higher ceiling for Spears than Hill. Jerry and Bill looked for character this draft. They found it in him. He'll be a great leader.

Spears always struck me as more athletic and fluid than Hill. Spears was definitely considered the more productive player when the two played together.
I think Spears needs to keep his weight in check to be at his most effective.

One was recruited to play hoops at Duke, UNC, Syracuse, St. Johns and one wasn't.
Pretty much sums it up.

In national Championship game, Hill had a good game and I thought he was better player. But they talked up Spears more than him and he was center of the defense then.
Seemed like Hill took advantage of the fact that Spears was more double teamed etc. From what I have heard or seen on highlights etc. or College Football shows, Spears was indeed much more talented, as others here have said.
