Senior Bowl Practices T. Bell vs. J. Jones...
This was what "Ourlads" reported...
"Tatum Bell didn't show explosive speed or elusiveness but he ran with good vision and above average quickness. He also did an adequate job as a receiver. However, while he showed some toughness as a blocker, he was inconsistent in that area. He also had some fumble issues."
"Julius Jones was the most eyecatching of the North backs. He changed speed well, showed good agility, balance, and body control, and did a nice job of bouncing plays wide. While his hand were a bit inconsistent, he impressed with his route running, frequently leaving linebackers in the dust with good moves. His blocking was not quite up to par, however."

Michael,
I suscribe to Ourlads.
In their April 2004 Newsletter, they gave J Jones the best All-Star Bowl performance (as well as the Combine King award) among RBs in this 2004 class.
In fact, J Jones was rated the 4th best RB according to them.

Sounds about right.
What made Bell go ahead of Jones I think, was his slightly better YPC and his strength...25 reps to Jones' 16.
He's also a little taller at 5-11 to Jones' 5-9 6/8.
I don't know what else could have made him go ahead of Jones, because his level of competition was not as tough either IMO.

What made bell go first was his combine and his running type. He is the perfect fit for denver, but Julius would be better for more teams.

Bell has better straight line speed, but it didn't help against the better competition at the Senior Bowl.
I think we got the better runner IMO.

Sad thing is is that Bell is going to look like a downright stud in Denver.
