I agree that stats don't tell a complete story of a players contributions to his team. There are the intangibles that don't show up in a player's stat line. Leadership, class, mental toughness, character, etc... These things either a player has or doesn't have and Emmitt had all of those things.

I agree that Portis is no where near Emmitt's class of RBs at this point in his career. Hell Emmitt is in very elite company when it comes to RBs who are in his class. When you add all those things together with the records he set there may not be any RBs who can share the same level with #22.

The one back though that at this point I would say is close or who has the best chance to join Emmitt is Tomlinson.
