Default Reliving the 2002 Draft

I just want some take on this to see how you would have imagined the draft if you had the chance to make the pick. Assuming the draft had progressed as it did in the first round, what do you change? Post the results of your change.

Here's a little help for you guys.

You're sitting pretty at #6. What do you do?

I trade down from #6 and nab #19 and #51 from Denver.

#19 - Javon Walker
#51 - Clinton Portis
#63 - Ben Leber

Javon Walker - He took some time to come out of his shell, but he has came on strong this past season and earned him a Pro Bowl selection as well as electrify the Green Bay offense. He will be a force for many years to come.

Clinton Portis - Very rarely does a guy step in and contribute as he has done. He had two 1,500 yard seasons in a row and a 1,300 yard season for his third year in the league. You nab an elite runningback who established himself early.

Ben Leber - I don't know a lot about this guy but he's been one of the very few bright spots for the Chargers. As being such a person, he's been rewarded with a hefty extension. Not bad for a guy who has been playing on a rather shabby defense.

I could go further in depth but I just wanted to see how you would change the immediate impact aspect of the draft.

The team sitting at #6 in 2001 was New England, and they took Richard Seymore. I would not trade him if I was the Pats.

In 2001, Dallas did not have a draft pick in the first round due to the Galloway trade. Seattle picked 9th and took Koren Robinson.

In 2002, Dallas took Roy Williams, and I will not trade him for anybody.

if we traded down , not getting RW, I would go with Ed Reed @ 19
Portis @ 51
Branch @ 63...

But in hindsight it is always easier to draft.

I would have traded Coakley to Denver and grabbed Portis @ 51......

Would have traded the #6 pick to Indy for #11 and 3rd rounder and grabbed Freeney.

then I would have traded my 2nd and 2 3rds to Balt for their #24 pick and grabbed Ed Reed....

Clinton Portis on being slighted by the Cowboys in the 2001 draft...

The Cowboys could have picked Portis they didn't want him. Dallas was targeting DeShaun Foster, but when Carolina snapped him up, we went with Gurode instead.

I think Ed Reed is a better safety than Roy Williams currently. But Ed has been surrounded by talent and plays his natural position. Roy doesn't. I'm eager to see just how dominate Roy can be when he's not back deep chasing fleet receivers. I think he's going to be a monster near the line of scrimmage. Then, I think his impact will rival that of Reed, in substance if not in flash.

OK 2002...I was wondering why anyone would want to re-live 2001's draft.
